Your opinion

So i know people are buying crystal glasses to have their champagne in and a cake cutting set but do you think we realyl need to do that... Willit look bad if we dont??? We are ttrying to spend money more on things we/our guests will love and the knife and glasses are not too important to me
what do you all think??

I would still do the champagne glasses - you don't have to spend a lot of money on them (register for them) and it's a cute memento from your day to display. As far as the cake server, I don't think I'll do that either... But it's entirely up to you, no one will notice if you don't do either!

If you don't want them, dont buy them. You may actually wind up with them in the end. In college I worked at Things Remembered and we sold all of that stuff. I had people come in all of the time and buy cake servers and champagne flutes for brides and grooms all of the time. Its nice because each set from there runs about $50 and with all of the engraving charges some of those sets run $80 - $100. So, maybe you will get them as a gift at your shower, if not, they are absolutely not necessary!

Good luck!

Re: Your opinion

i dont think that you 'need' them but the RH may not provde the kinfe set so that may be a ? to ask...

what about using your parents and make it a sentamental thing.. we are thinking of using either my moms glasses and his moms knife set or the other way around. i just thought it would be nice and im sure our moms would love it and we would love to save some money!

I registered for mine and it matches the china pattern I registered for. I think it's a nice momento that I can display with my wedding photo. You still have time to decide.

I wouldn't worry about this for a while, i would wait to see if you get it off your registry.

Otherwise you dont have to pay alot to buy them

Re: Your opinion

i registered for my toasting flutes and cake set and i got it already for christmas! i personally wanted to have them as a keepsake - and they were pretty cheap - Lenox from BB&B.

however, i know a few girls that actually HAD these items but forgot them on their big day and the hall let them borrow some nice stuff so the pictures still came out nice!

so you could register for them, or just skip them all together!

Yea typically those are things people buy for you and not something you need to buy yourself. I was given a waterford cake knife and two sets of toasting toasting flutes - one waterford and one galway - at the engagement party.

I wouldn't worry to much about it. Put it on your registry and on the chance that no one buy them for you if you really want there are some really beautiful and affordable ones out there!

Re: Your opinion

I am not doing toasted flutes i am doing pint glasses for favors and fh and i are going to get pilsner glases with the same design on it for us. We don't drink champagne.. we will only drink beer anyway!

As for cake stuff I am going to skip on that unless I get something as a present. I don't want a specialty wedding one just something I can use in the future.

Re: Your opinion

I dont think that I will be having a cake server/knife either. I believe that the toasting glasses are nicec because you can use them every NYE and ever anniversary to toast your lives together. And like someone else mentioned you can put it on your registry

I want the Swarovski champagne glasses but they are pretty expensive. They have real crystals in the stems of the glasses. I dont know if the price includes one glass or the set. But it is ove r$200 maybe it will be a gift for myself!!!!

Re: Your opinion

i'm not doing either. i told my mom i didn't want to buy the glasses and she said i could use hers and start a new tradition. hah! a tradition from being cheap! i like it though and i'm totally doing it. if she didn't offer though i still wouldn't buy them, i'd just use whatever they have in handy. not bothering with the cake cutting set either. i have too limited a budget and too many other things i'd rather put my money towards. i don't think that's a bad thing.

Re: Your opinion

i would def register for them or have your mom tell a close family member who wants to buy a more sentimental gift to buy them for you.. they dont have to be that expensive... on the other hand--i dont think you neccessarily need to have them- its not like anyone is going to zoom in on your pictures to see the glasses or the cake set but its a nice keepsake.. i think if you get it as a gift great..and if you dont oh well.. i dont think its something i would go out and buy myself.. jmo...

My parents bought us champagne glasses as an engagement gift. They're beautiful and very nice to have, but not a necessity. If anything, you could register for them.
