Your opinion on FAKIES

Now i know that soon to be brides used to find it annoying that venders would pose as brides on the BHB board...

Now i am curious do you care that a fake person comes on the NWR board? You know someone that isn't who they say they are? There have definately been some...
Or do you not care?

It's just sad b/c we are all so open on here and we tend to trust the people on here and then to find out you were mislead....not cool!

i dont know if this would be considered a 'fakie' but i think its dumb when people make up a new screenname to come on and post about something.

(like a secret santa gift or what have you)

what usually happens, is an imposter comes on and wreaks havoc and then poof they are gone. its best to just ignore it and they just go away

True but what do you do about the ones that will not go away. They post things to try and cause controvesy (they don't always succeed) but yet they still don't go away.

yeah. someone came on a few months ago and was nasty to certain people.... she then called out that they were mean to me.... so it made ME look bad.. like i was the fake poster... that kind of chit is annoying.

True but what do you do about the ones that will not go away. They post things to try and cause controvesy (they don't always succeed) but yet they still don't go away.

good point. there is really nothing that we can do about the fake controversy casing posters.

Well, I've been here for a LONG time, and I have seen my share of completely fake brides, and sooner or later, they are spotted and go away. As for the ones that just don't get the hint and don't go away, I just ignore them completely. There's essentially nothing you can do about it unless they are visibly harrassing you, then you can forward it to Ron and he can take care of it. I try to stay far away from that crap, and it really doesn't affect me. Does it make for a good read on slow days? Yes, but I usually don't think twice about it.

It's kinda scary if you think about it... since comign on LIW a couple months ago... I kind of trust you girls a lot and say things I wouldn't always say...but you all are reminding me that there can be a lot of wierdos out there and maybe I shouldn't trust so much? (hope this post makes sense)

Theres been past Post where poeple have said bad things about friends/family member. The friend/family member comes on here and reads it WOW lots of DRAMA. I loved pointing out Fake brides cause it was funny!!!! Fakies on NWR its just really strange?

ETA cause one Day I WILL learn to spell!

No not all of us could be other people...some of us have met others...and unless you are truly psycho...most of us have planned our weddings, shared pictures of ourselves and our weddings...etc..

So even though i never met somone i feel like i have..

And i never said anything about 'calling out' people...I just asked what peoples feeling on the topic were

I think the fakies are funny. Especially the vendor ones. They are sooo fake.. who do they think they are fooling? That goes for the 'newbies' on NWR also ANYONE can be a fake on here it is the internet! But some people make it sooo obvious!

My first couple weeks on here I fell right into a fakie vendor post on BHB --- I felt like an IDIOT! I guess I just didn't realize people would stoop so low to promote themselves in that way...

Guess I should add that there are DEFINITELY fakies on NWR and OT - I posted on the booby implant thread that I had a breast reduction... I got a few FMs from that, and 3 out of 4 of them were legitimate people that I've 'seen' here before (those FMs are totally welcome!), but 1 was from someone with ZERO posts, no profile info, and a wedding date in 2010 - obviously a lurker that felt the need to FM me with questions that were a little too detailed for me...I didn't respond.
