Your opinions wanted....

Your opinions wanted....

DH and I talked about TTC in late spring of 2005. My sister just got engaged and is planning an October 2005 wedding. I absolutely do not want to be pregnant for her wedding. Do you think that if we got pregnant (g-d willing) in the next few months that we would be 'stealing her thunder'.

How would you feel if you were my sister?

Some background =
-- this would be the 1st grandchild

I don't think you would be stealing her thunder if the baby was born a few months before her wedding, say before June/July. I had a good friend at work who was in the same dilemma she didn't want to be pregnant for her brothers wedding, or at least not very pregnant and wanted to put off TTC because of that fact. She eventually decided to start TTC anyway. I personally wouldn't change my TTC plans based on a wedding but that is JMHO. May I ask why you would absolutely not want to be PG at her wedding?

I am the MOH and they are getting married on an island. I definitely can't be in my 3rd trimester and then I worry about morning sickness and not feeling well if it's early on in the pregnancy.

I wouldn't want to be in my third trimester either, if I was a MOH/BM. But I think if you were at the end of your first or early second you should be ok. They say after the 1st trimester the morning sickness and tiredness go away and you have a renewed energy come the 2nd. I don't know for a fact since I have never been PG. I think that you have to make the decision that best suits you and your DH. Have you talked to your sister about it? Maybe she would be totally fine with you having a baby before the wedding.

one of my BM was 7 months PG in my wedding party....I expected her to back out honestly, but she didn't and I'm glad she didn't.

having a child is not on the same scale as getting married...do what you feel is best.....if you go for it now, someone will get uspet, if you do it later, someone will get upset...

do what you want, this is YOUR life and will be YOUR child

You get pregnant when you can..I dont think you would be stealing anyones thunder!! My sister was 8 months pregnant for my wedding, she was maid of honor and I was THRILLED for her, her shower was 5 days before my wedding and I was VERY happy..I never once thought she was stealing my thunder!!! getting pregnant is a wonderful thing, just as is a new marriage! We looked at it that our family was truly blessed to have me getting married and to have my sis starting her family both at teh same time!!! the only inconvenience was on my honeymoon I constantly checked to see if she had her baby yet!!!

I think you are wonderful for caring about your sisters feelings. Maybe it would steal her thunder a little, I mean a baby is really new for your whole family and everyone would be very exceited about it. One thing I would advise is to have a heart to heart talk with your sister about it. I'm sure she would understand..... I definitely would talk with her.

Are you planning on switching your plans so that you're TTC now and not in Spring of 2005? I would say if you got pregnant now you would not be stealing her thunder, you would have the baby well before her wedding. But would you be able to focus on her wedding as much? probably not.

I'm really torn. I know that she would say that she doesn't care, but I wonder if deep down inside it really would. I mean I would NEVER tell her no if the tables were turned but inside I can't help to think that I might feel like the attention was off of me.

I don't think you'd be stealing her thunder. And as alot of these ladies can tell you JUST because you start to TTC earlier doesn't mean it will happen right away. (some woman are blessed w/ being VERY fertile) But, I would try to be in my 1st or 2nd trimester for the wedding. It would be more comfortable for you. I'm sure she wouldn't think you were stealing her thunder.
