When we started planning it felt like it got out of control very fast, hence the new wedding 4 months earlier w/ 130 fewer guests.......my question is........
When you started planning did you envision the wedding you would have, would be the wedding you are now having. IE: started planning---small family wedding Sunday morning w/a brunch, and now it's 200+ Saturday night w/a full on reception. Just curious, and when anyone mentions the wedding and planning do you feel like you're going to vomit? I want to be excited and I am not worried about the marriage but the day...this 1 day is KILLING me. What if the flowers wilt, it snows...we live in michigan, you never know, someone trips on my dress, the food is terrible, the hotels are bad or someones reservation was cnx. We are all oot guests going 3hrs up north for the wedding..... Enoght blah blah blah the question is your wedding who you originally planned it? sorry for the spelling

Re: Your wedding
I just got married and was so stressed out as well. When that day comes just sit back and take it all in. It will be perfect no matter what.

Re: Your wedding
Yes, my wedding is pretty much exactly as I planned it. Before I got engaged, I had envisioned a backyard wedding with a tent, something all vintagey and cool, but then I found out how much something like that would cost, and how much work it would be. I'm quite happy with our wedding. I did envision more DIY, but I just haven't had the time!

Re: Your wedding
FH and I had discussed getting married on a beach in the carribean. We were planning it when the parents all gave us different reasons why they wanted us to get married local. So good for you for sticking to your small semi DW! I am now in love with my wedding, but every once in a while FH and I look at each other and we say 'This is why we wanted a DW!'

Re: Your wedding
We went into it with a 'go with the flow' kind of plan. We figured we'd look into everything & see what was the most feasible budget wise. I'd say everything is pretty close to what we ideally wanted. The only differences I can think of are 1) we originally thought we wouldn't want to get married in the church & now we are 2) we were planning on 80 or so people & now it's going to be 100+ So basically, the actual plans are pretty much what we expected them to be.

This is me exactly! We're less than a week away and I get nauseous every time we pay another vendor. I wanted a small DW and FMIL wouldn't have it .... now I'm so mad all our money is going to this party instead of for a house down payment! Oh well, should have stuck to my guns but I didn't so I'll just have to enjoy what we got!

Re: Your wedding
i know my guest list is a LOT bigger than i thought it would be... when i started planning i didn't have any idea of what kind of wedding i wanted, when we booked our RH and i picked my dress and the color of the BM dresses that's when it started to form and come together in a cohesive idea... and now i have a theme wedding! of course, before i got engaged i wanted a backyard bbq... but that's another story!!

Re: Your wedding
so far, it will be EXACTLY as we envisioned. The exact time of day, hall, church, style limo, colors / theme, letterpress invitations, funky (yet low key) urban DJ, size guest list....
the only change is my gown.... initially I thought I would like pick-ups, but in the end, I preferred a gown with a dropped waist and box pleats....

Re: Your wedding
I wouldn't sweat the small stuff! I went through a crazy couples of weeks where I was stressing big time... to the point that it was making me physically sick. I made a promise to myself that I would sweat the small stuff and in the end the only thing that matters is that I am marrying the love of my life! If the flowers wilt or it snows or rains it doesn't matter! All that matters is that you have the people that are most important to you with you to celebrate! Good luck and try not to drive yourself nuts! It's almost over!!!!

Re: Your wedding
Ours was basically how I planned it. . . . Due to budget constraints, it had to be the way it was...
If anything, it was better than I thought it would be! I was so happy with how everything turned out!

Re: Your wedding
I am actually enjoying planning my wedding, the only thing that we changed was that we were going to get married outside but now we are having a church wedding. I should be stressed and crazy because I am doing almost everything by myself, but what can you do?? They say everything will come together and don't make a great event like a wedding seem so awful.

Re: Your wedding
At first when i started planning my wedding i was having a huge wedding, with lots and lots of guests. Our list was at 295 guests. We then went through some things and changed the location of our wedding after signing a contract. Our wedding was supposed to be on LI and then we booked our venue in Manhattan...so we cut our guest list in half literally and are now having a 150 guest wedding. To answer your question, no, my wedding turned out to be something it was not supposed to be in the beginning and i wouldnt have it any other way b/c i love how everything is coming along!

Re: Your wedding
I originally planned a much simpler wedding. Lots of DIY and a tiny guest list. Well, I realized how much FUN planning is and how much wedding stuff there is to BUY out there...My guest list is still pretty small, but I think it turned into a more elaborate affair than I had originally planned.

Re: Your wedding
Update...... SINGLE DIGITS!!!!
I talked to the reception coord and she ROCKS!! She said 'honey stop stressing, drink a glass of wine right now, champagne the day of, get your hair done, say I do, eat your dinner and party like a rock star! All you have to do is just show up, be in love, and the rest will fall into place.' That, for some reason, made me stop in my tracks call my mom and say.......i'm getting married in 9 days I have never been this excited about the wedding, but now I can't wait! FH keeps calling and saying 9 days 9 days only 9 more days. He is OVER THE MOON! Thank you guys for listening, and for understanding. It isn't how I planned it...it's way better than I ever imagined it would be. 10 weather forecast shows a clear sky highs in the low 60's I feel like a mountain was lifted off of my shoulders. Everything is all set
