Your Wedding transportation

Good Morning Ladies:

I am on the fence about something, but then again I always am, so here goes:

As you all know I am constantly saying how I am on a budget for this wedding so if I can cut unneccesary costs I will. Since my ceremony and location are in the same location, I was debating about whether or not I really need a Limo. I have a very small bridal party and I only need transportation to get to the hall. There are alot of nice cars in my family. I thought I could use one of them to drive me there.

Secondly to those who have limos are they staying around for the whole reception and escorting you home?

Thoughts, suggestions????

Thanks.

Re: Your Wedding transportation

I have a friend getting married at the NRC and she is NOT having limos. It really is a waste of $. No they do not wait around the whole wedding. You usually get them for 3 hrs. Sometimes places will offer in their package to pick you up (you and FH) after the reception (or to go to airport for HM).

Re: Your Wedding transportation

I think if you are having everything at one location, it would be fine to cut out the limos (and the cost of them). We are having limos, but no after the reception. They will pick us up, go to church , out for pics, then to the hall. We will catch a ride with family to the hotel. The limo company offers a ride either from the reception or to the airport, we are taking it to the airport. But, if our event was all in one place, I would not have gone for limo's. I am sure there are a million other things that money can be spent on.

Re: Your Wedding transportation

Hi,

I feel that if you are trying to cut costs, cutting the limos out is probably the best place to do that... I don't think there is anything wrong with having someone escort you in a nice car to the hall The fact that you are having your ceremony and reception at the same location, makes this a lot easier for you & the fact that you have a small bridal party... Plus, there is NO rule book that says you HAVE to have a limo... Good luck! I hope I helped!

Oh, also, I am not keeping the limos around to escort me home...

Re: Your Wedding transportation

I have the same problem. Im having my ceramony and reception at Jericho Terrace. I even asked this question to my BM there. I think Im going to get a ride from someone to the hall, probably one of my bm. Then im going to get a limo just for the guys to bring them to JT. I will get in the limo for some photos with my dad. Then have them leave. Ill probably get a sedan for me and FH on the way home so we can be by ourselves. I thought I was being cheap for doing this but a lot of people do it. Why pay for a limo to sit !

nvrbrd
our ceremony and reception are also at the same place. We are taking all our pics on the beach before hand. We are not booking limo's. It just didn't seem worth it to me.
Also we live at the beach and the reception is about 5 minutes away.

I think its a great idea to use family cars - we will too. It might make more of the family feel involved.

Re: Your Wedding transportation

We bought a really nice new car and were going to use that as our 'get away' car, but a month before hte wedding we got into a really bad accident and the car was not fixed in time for the wedding...:(

so we got a limo to take me and BM to hall (they would have their others drive them home) and then FH's family came in from AZ...and needed a way to the wedding...so they got a big limo and I jumped in on the way home...

we rented the limos for only 1 hour at a time...it was about $150/hr for an 8 pass and $225/hr for a 14 pass

Re: Your Wedding transportation

Why don't you call Manny at Regency limo. They have great prices and probably can accomodate you to fit your budget. Explain to him you are on a budget.

Re: Your Wedding transportation

Maybe you can get a service to just take you there-it's hard to get in & you have to watch out for grease in the door jamb & stuff. This was our get away car(one of Hubby's only requests!)

save money if you can, do what makes you feel comfortable.

Re: Your Wedding transportation

My ceremony was also at the hall so we didn't have any limos. I arrived at CB and even got dresses there.

Re: Your Wedding transportation

Just wanted to chime in here-
My ceremony and reception were also at the same place-we rented a Lincoln Town car from Hertz for 3 days. We used the additional car to lug around stuff to take back and forth so it was worth it. We paid about $200.00

Re: Your Wedding transportation

I think you can cut costs of the limos too because everything is in one location. I don't see why not.

Re: Your Wedding transportation

Definitely no limos necessary. My limos took us to the church, then the reception and left. I had dropped a car off the day before. When we were debating having the ceremony/reception at the same place, we considered it a perk that we could nix the limos.
