Zales engagement rings (VENT!!)

Original post by GinaBambina08

Has anyone who got their engagement ring from zales had any problems with it?? I've only been wearing my engagement ring for 2 months and a stone falls out! I don't even wash my hands with it on, i'm soo gentle with it.. But anyway, me and FH go back to zales and they tell me they'll repair the ring and it'll be ready in TWO MONTHS! So I'm supposed to go two months without a frickin engagement ring (that i've been only wearing for two months!) because they don't know how to make their rings properly! And they won't even give me a replacement ring to wear in the meantime! Has anyone else had any problems like this?

Re: Zales engagement rings (VENT!!)

My e-ring isnt from ZALES but I did have several stones fall out SEVERAL times-so many in fact I actualyl did get very peeved. Three fell out during our cancun vacation. I ended up unable to wear it the entire vacation which was disaapointing since we were newly engaged. Two stone sfell out after they fixed it and we were home. Then another 2 a month later. (My e-ring has tiny stones on the band on each side-two rows on each sdie so 16 diamond chips.

They replaced them free of charge everytime and it never took more than a week. What finally happened was they had one of their guys look at it and he noticed that the stones were loosened because they had to adjust it twce for me (it was a 6 and my finger is a 4) to make it it fit. So they tightened everything and it has been fine since.

ZAles seems to be giving you the run-around. I would contact the corporate office and put it in writing. Youd be amazed what a letter will make people run and do-much more effective than merely word of mouth which can be ignored.

Although my E-ring isn't from Zales I've had other problems there. I needed a new watch battery in my watch. I happened to be in the mall and figured it's a watch battery, even Walmart can change them. So the guy takes the watch an goes in the back. I see him come out several times and whisper with what I assume to be the manager. After waiting probably like 45 minutes he brings me my watch back. I put it on and walk out. A few hours later I notice that the face of my watch has turned. It turns out he broke every pin that held the face of the watch....and as you can tell from above.... he tried to cover it up and not say anything!!! It took about a month or more to get it back from them fixed! After that I refuse to ever step foot in a Zales!!

Man these stories are horrific....

I'm so glad my ring is durable.... It is a bluenile ring in a standard platinum setting, and everything is fine. No loose stone, nothing funny going on.....

These stories also make me glad that we bought our bands at tiffany's.... inexpensive no, but you know what you're getting, and the customer service can't be beat....

OMG! I can't believe these stories. I bought my wedding band from them. I am so nervous now. I was having trouble finding a good match and I ended up finding it at Zales. I am going to have to tell my FH about this.

I hate Zales and yes got my e-ring from there. DH put it on lay away and when we went to make a pmt. they told us that they voided the sale and put it back in stock but were going to give him a zales gift card for the balance. Needless to say after I bugged out on the girl in the store and caused a big scene. They sold us the ring but I had to pay cash right then and there. Then after wearing my ring for yes a month I noticed there was a slight black dot in the center stone. So I called them and they told me this was normal in all stones, well I know this is not true so I contacted zales corporate office and now after another month I notice that there are now three black dots in my ring and the mgr. of zales is never there(so I thought). Well I went to a different zales who was very very helpful and explained to me that they get complaints about this particular store and mgr. and after giving her the name of the girl I flipped on who happened to be the same girl on the phone I find out the whole time I was dealing with the mgr all along and she played it off like she wasnt. Well it took 3months before I got an answer from corporate who said they spoke with the mgr. and she told them she never heard anything about this okay so I go back to the other zales for a cleaning and explain the situation to the mgr there and she takes my ring looks at it and tells me it's very evident there is something wrong with the center stone. She sent my e ring back to corporate or whereever and got me a new center stone put in. It did unfortunetly take 2months before I got it back and now I've noticed the center stone is kinda sinking on one end in the setting. It also looks like it is very cloudy and possibly fake(I know it's not but it kinda looks like it) It doesnt sparkle like the it should. Im actually going back in May to have it looked at for the warranty so I am def. bringing this up again. Sorry so long but yes I totally understand your frustration.

I hope your center stone is GIA certified..... if it is, you can go under any microscope and read the serial # off of the stone to make sure it matches the documents....

No unfortunetly it's not! It broke my heart to have the first stone changed because I feel like it's not the same but after all the money he spent, I couldnt see settling with it. My BIL bought his wifes e-ring in Zales and never had a problem, I was just the unlucky one.

My E-Ring and Wedding bands are from there as and I haven't had any problems whatsoever. My E-Ring has 3 stones in the middle and 6 on the side. We dealt with the Zales in White Plains. We also had mine resized before the wedding and got it back w/in a week. Sorry you are going through that!!
