Zen Palate

Zen Palate

I totally did not know the Zen Palate in Westbury (ie - my fav restaurant) closed in late April! DH and I made a special trip out to Westbury this past weekend to go there to eat and it was no longer in existance. Now I am going to have to go into the city to get it Was anyone else a Zen Palate lover (I am looking at the veggies among us)?

Never eaten there.
Your DH loves you more than mine does, because I could NEVER get him to go to any restaurant that he may possibly construe as a 'hippie' joint.

Looks like you totally missed our discussion on this.

Sorry, I thought you knew!

I am saddened. Deeply. It was my fav place.

I totally missed it! My fav place too. I didn't eat the whole day cause I was planning to finally try a dessert. I can't believe we trekked out to Westbury for nothing.

Will he do Tiger Lily Cafe? They have meat options at least. DH moans and groaned the first few times we went to Zen, but then he found something he really liked and was happy to go.

I took him to TL once. The food he liked, but the ambiance in places like that, not so much.
He thinks bohemian/ hipster joints are pretentious.

He thinks Milk and Sugar is pretentious.

He likes to judge.

They have a 'to go' option. I love the bohemian vibe. Luckily DH cares not about vibe, but only cares about the deliciousness factor of the food. We agree that TL would be better if the food items came with a side - like banana chips or sweet potato chips or something. A sandwich looks lonely flying solo in the basket.

I agree- the lack of sides is saddening.
But they do sell pirates booty.
And those yummy non cheetos- the corn ones.

There's one opening by me in LA. You should all come and visit and I will take you out for some of the bestest veggie food you've ever had.

Look at me, I'm on NWR!

If I lived in CA I would be a billion pounds. I have perused a bunch of CA vegan restaurant websites, and they look unbelievably good. Freakishly delicious even.

I would like a Zen Palate to open in Yaphank. That would be weird, but awesome. I could surely support them all by myself

PS: Stop neglecting your NWR duties

I'm trying to convince DH to take me here tonight. Mi favorito!

Wow - that place looks unreal! I want the Yerba Maté Latte and Buddha Belly. Mmmmm.

Is your DH still eating chicken or is he back to being a veggie? I wish I could convince DH to be a vegetarian, but I doubt that will ever happen. Alas. At least I got him to give up duck and veal. Small victories

Still on chicken and fish. He had a bite of pork the other day That grossed me out, but it was a one time thing.

He mostly eats veg, though. I take what I can get.

ETA: My favorites are the club, tofu wrap, TV dinner and salisbury seitan. Mmm... but seriously? It's all good. They have a cookbook. You should totally get it and make awesome veggie food and tempt your hubby with it.

Eww pork. I totally would love for DH to give up pork. It would be next on my list cause pigs are so intelligent.

I may need to try said cookbook. Although I am the laziest when it comes to cooking meals with alot of ingredients.
