Have any of you done this? What is your 'something blue's' role?

I asked one of my friends to be my something blue. I got her a card and cookie to ask her (pix in albums). I am having her part of the BP. She will walk down the aisle and wear a blue dress. I asked her to be the witness who signs the wedding certificate. I might ask her to do a reading also, but not sure.

I have three :) I wanted my three best friends to be apart of the day but was avoiding a huge bridal party so I stuck with only family in the bp. My something blues are going to wear blue dresses, 2 are doing readings at the church and one is going to sing at the church.

I asked my something blues with a personalized card from Etsy,and found a poem asking them to be my good luck as my something blue, wear something blue and to help keep the party going. I found a long enough reading where all three of them were able to go up together and read. I also got them a small picture frame for pictures of us.

I've never heard of this but I love it. I have a large BP and there's one other person who I would like to honor. This would be perfect. I like that they don't have to be part of the BP; can be honored by doing readings and asked to have a special job. I also like the idea that I can single them out in the program. :) Please tell all you can about having a person as 'something blue'.

I used that post as inspiration, but found Tiffany Blue invite cards on Etsy and had them say, will you be my something blue. To add, I also asked them to hand out the bubbles, programs and cry packs at the doorway.

My uncle just passed away last week, I'm thinking about asking for something of his that was blue and incorporating it somehow.

I think I'm as excited to ask my 'something blue' person, as I am about asking my bridesmaids. (Trying to hold off till after the holidays, but I may burst first. lol) I'm thinking of getting 'something blue' a nice silver mirror compact with blue details. I'm imagining a blue wrist corsage as well.
