Captain Bill's / Bay View House - Opinions?

Any take on weddings here from folks who have been?

Honestly, the name/exterior (from what I've seen online) is totally unappealling. But the interior, at least from the site, looks nice.

Would love to hear opinions. Hard to get over the above stuff when thinking of your dream wedding (!), but I'm willing to keep an open mind.

Re: Captain Bill's / Bay View House - Opinions?

I went to see the place and I really liked it, but they dont have outdoor ceremony capability so it was a no for us...

I agree that the name is not that appealing, but you can always just write Bayview House on the invite...

the ballroom is very pretty, spacious, windows on the water, outside CH with waterview...

the food there is very good!

I dont think the outside is 'unappealing' it just looks like a restaurant.

it can't hurt for you to go take a look!

Re: Captain Bill's / Bay View House - Opinions?

I've never been to a wedding there but I have been to showers and anniversary parties.... and I've eaten there a bunch of times separately. The rooms they use for parties are very nice and they over look the bay which I love. And honestly the only 1 time I had a bad experience with the food there was when FH and I went for restaurant week... any other of thr 5 or 6 times I've been it was really good! Yeah the front looks like a restaurant but your guests will spend so much time in the banquet rooms it's not going to matter. I think it's a very nice place!

Re: Captain Bill's / Bay View House - Opinions?

I booked my wedding there. The RH is seperate from the restaurant and while it has a brown exterior (which my mom didn't like), I can't even remember the color of my sister's building from when she got married in 2007. As far as the name, I still don't like having to put Captain Bills, so as someone suggested above, I am probably just putting the Bayview House.

I chose the place because it is gorgeous! and the food is outrageous! Everyone who has been to a weddign there always raves about the food. I chose it because of the location as well as wanting to be on the water, which you can see from the windows (and the cocktail hour is on the deck outside), and it fit well in my budget. They also included a lot in the price. I can send you an FM with everything because someone else asked me for it so I have it in there.

Definitely go see the place; it is definitely worth taking a look.

My FH amd I went to look at it. It looks way better than the online pictures. It just was too far for us for a Friday evening when everyone of our guest live in Nassau South shore, Queens and Brooklyn. I think you should go see it in person brfore you exclude them completely. the view is gorgeous.

I went to a shower there a few years ago and the food was wonderful and it was really a lovely view outside if you are considering getting married during daylight hours.

Re: Captain Bill's / Bay View House - Opinions?

HEY! here I am weezy! lol
I have been to 3 weddings @ the bayview house. LOVELOVE that place! we have eaten in teh restaurant as well. Food is amazing! The bayview house is GORGEOUS!
depending on how big your party is also, you do the CH on the back deck of the bayview house, OR if you are having a big wedding, they do CH in the reataurant itself - sounds weird but there are private rooms there and you dont see anyone else. hte bayview is one wedding at a time, they are pretty reasonably priced. DEFINITELY worth a look. but take into account where your CH will be when they tell you. the CH on teh back part of the bayview house requires you to walk through the RH to get to CH. i liked that if we did it there because of the size of out party we would have been in teh other building for CH then walking over. I have seen it done both ways, and liked that better. ask them about that definitely!

Good luck!

Re: Captain Bill's / Bay View House - Opinions?

My sister had her wedding there and i have nothing but good things to say. The food was excellent the place is amazing. The whole tent thing i loved it because it gives you that out doors feeling but your indoors. My sister had a steel drum playing during the cocktail hour and it just added to the ambience. The price is also very reasonable i think especially since it hasn't changed since 5 and a half years ago. Hope this is helpful!!! Good Luck with everything!!!
