Does Tulle unravel?

I ordered a veil with some beading along the edges & I decided that I didn't want the beading anymore. I want to cut the beading off along the entire veil to make it plain- do you girls know if tulle rips or unravels?

Re: Does Tulle unravel?

Maybe it would depend on how it is cut, but I don't think so. THey sell 'cut edge' (plain edge) veils and they don't unravel (they are not sewn on the edges at all).

HTH!

You're right! That's what I thought but wanted to see if anyone has done this.

Re: Does Tulle unravel?

Be very careful while cutting your veil. One of my friends tried cutting her veil like 2 days before her wedding and she ruined it. She had to get a new one from Fantasyland.

Re: Does Tulle unravel?

OMG! How did she ruin it? Did she cut it crooked? I'm worried about that too.

Re: Does Tulle unravel?

You wont ruin it, but the edges will definatly be unfinished.. I would have someone sew the edge to give it a finished look..

Re: Does Tulle unravel?

Be very careful, think about it before you cut it, as I am getting a rolled edge, just for the fact that it did not look finished, the satin rolled edge is to hold it together and give it a design flair, but you really cant see the roll its so light...its not the think satin that so many have. .

Re: Does Tulle unravel?

If you cut them off you should definitely finish the edges somehow - sew them of iron on some sort of border to keep it from fraying!

It was crooked, so she kept cutting to even it out, making it shorter and shorter. It was a nightmare.

Re: Does Tulle unravel?

tulle doesn't unravel, but be careful that you don't sut it crooked and that you actually want it without the beads and completely plain before you do anything.

also, depending on the price of your veil, it may be in your best interest to sell your veil and buy a cheaper plain one - cold save you money in the end.

Re: Does Tulle unravel?

Is the beading sewn on? Would you be cutting the thread holding the beads on or the actual veil itself? I think if your just cutting thread holding the beads it is fine! But if you are cutting the veil itself, be careful, do a little research first maye u can find a recomendation on how to finish the edge. Good Luck let us know what you do!

hmmm... now that I think of it the beads might be sewn on with threads & then I can probaly snip them right off. I don't have posession of the veil yet. I think it's coming in june

Re: Does Tulle unravel?

I would sell that veil and just buy a new one. A 2 layer cut edge cathedral veil is 80 bucks at veilshop.com.
