Anyone know the difference?? Also is the estimated replacement cost on the ring certificate always alot more than current retail value?

Re: EGL vs. GIA vs. UGL Certification?
i have always heard that you should only buy GIA certified --good friend of the family is a gemologist and he thinks it is the most reputable diamond grader...i think they came up with the 4 c's too...

Re: EGL vs. GIA vs. UGL Certification?
I have not heard of EGL or UGL. My stone is AGS which includes a little more detail than a GIA certification.Replacement value is LESS than retail value. The replacement value should be more than what FI paid i.e. FI paid $15,000 for the ring but the appraisal says the replacement cost (to get the identical stone on the wholesale market if God forbid it's lost or stolen) is $17,000. The retail value (except at Fortunoff)of the same $15K stone could be $20K. Does that make sense?
We found Fortunoff prices to be super expensive for the same size & quality stones.
