Engagement Party/Money Box HELP!!
For those of you who have had an engagement party whether at a backyard or at a hall. How many of you had a money/card box? my best friend is having a semi-formal catered engagement party at her FH's parents backyard and she wanted to know whether it was tacky to have one.If it is, what are some creative ways of having a money box alternative.
TIA!!

Re: Engagement Party/Money Box HELP!!
I had a back yard BBQ engagement party; no card box though. When people gave me cards i just gave them to my Mom to store. And others i put inside shopping bags of gifts.

I didn't have a money box. I just put all the gifts on a table I had set aside.

I'm not having a money box and I'm having a catered backyard eparty. I will just put them somewhere for safe keeping at my moms house.

I am having a backyard catered engagement party. I don't think a card box is necessary because you can just go put them in the house.

Re: Engagement Party/Money Box HELP!!
IMO a card box at an e-party is a bit tacky.If you get cards with $$ have someone hold it for you (or bring a big purse
)

I kinda think it's tacky, too, JMO!Butttttt, you could put out a bird cage as part of the decor and if guests happen to slip cards in there, so be it!

Re: Engagement Party/Money Box HELP!!
JMO but I didn't expect gifts for my eparty so I wouldn't have a cardbox.Think about it its really expensive knowing someone getting married....e-party, shower, bparty, wedding. That is a lot and people usually have more than 1 wedding a year so my opinion is that the eparty is optional for the couple and therefore people usually DO bring a gift but it shouldn't be expected.

Re: Engagement Party/Money Box HELP!!
I think it's kind of tacky, because you shouldnt really expect gifts for an e-party. Most people will bring one...but it's not really obligated of them. I wouldnt get one

Re: Engagement Party/Money Box HELP!!
we had a birdcage and cards were coming out the wazoo! but we had a formal affair.If it's in a backyard, I would say it's not necesary, but I def don't think its tacky! Who would be offended by seeing a card box?
Even if you don't get gifts, most people will bring a congratulations card. JMO.
