Getting married during Lent-- Flowers in church???

Hey ladies,

I am getting married on March 27, 2010. I am starting to look at florist, and it just hit me that i might not be allowed to have flowers in the church during the Lent season?

Does anyone know if churches allow flowers at this time of the year???

Re: Getting married during Lent-- Flowers in church???

Well I doubt any catholic church would allow it.Just think of it as a blessing b.c you wont have to spend the money b.c usually its so much money to decorate the church .

Re: Getting married during Lent-- Flowers in church???

check with your church. i am also getting married on march 27, which happens to be the day before palm sunday, beginning of holy week. my church told me that i can put flowers if i wish, but they would have to be thrown out (or taken out of the church) right after the mass. the priest said he didn't think it was worth it to spend our money on something that the church had to throw out as soon as we left.

one florist i went to agreed with me and wasn't trying to push church flowers on me (I booked with them). another florist that i met with kept telling me that i needed flowers for the church and didn't want to hear no as an answer.

I think the same was said to me when I originally was looking at March dates.
