Groom's mom passed away.....

Hello Ladies,

I need your help (again). FH mother passed away last year of cancer. I spoke to the priest and we will do a memorial mass for her during the ceremony and I'm thinking of adding a small table w/ a centerpiece and a framed picture of her to acknowledge her during the reception.

Since he wont have a mother/son dance. His aunt/godmother (her sister) wants to dance with him at the reception. What would be a nice song that he can dance to with his aunt? I'm stuck on this....any suggestions?

My futures hubby also passed away but he will most likely not do the Mother/Son dance. No one can replace his mother and we're okay with that. Did you ask him if its something he wants to do? Instead I will probably 'give' her my boquet rather than toss it and have an announcement be made.

hmm. I want to suggest boys II men & Mariah one sweet day, but I promise EVERYONE will be crying.
a song that reminds me of my grandfather (who passed a year and a half ago) is david cooks time of my life (don't ask why)
also creeds arms wide open.
thats all I could really think of right now.

Sorry to hear about your FH's mother. Yes, I agree no one can replace your mother. I think his aunt asked him b/c she didnt want him to feel like he's getting 'robbed' of not having a first dance at his wedding. When she offered to dance with him, he agreed so I guess he's OK w/ it....unless he felt bad say no to her. I'll make sure this is what he wants to do. I want him to be happy on our wedding day.

I think the small table idea is a very nice touch...My father passed away when I was 7 years old. I also thought a replacement for the father/daughter dance did not feel right to me, personally. Also, I wanted to acknowledge him at the reception, but I do not want a tear jerker moment.

I decided to play a favorite upbeat song of his and share my father/daughter dance with anyone who loved him, knew him, or wished they did. I want his memory and life to be celebrated on my special day.

She meant alot to FH and she was a great lady. I'm happy I got to know her while she was alive.

I couldn't even listen through them, but I am sure he would want something sentimental to acknowledge. I just feel a big loss like that makes all your special days so bitter sweet.
