Need help for a memorial poem
My father died when I was 13, I also have no living grandparents...So I am planning to light a candle at the church and surround it with pics and roses to honor those who past..I would like to include a not so depressing poem on the table too...Any Suggestions....

This what I have:Those we love dont go away
They walk beside us everyday
Unseen, unheard, but always there
Still missed, still loved and very dear

Re: Need help for a memorial poem
I used this one, I did a hole table and candle lighting ceremony:We thought of you with love today,
but that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday,
and days before that too.
We think of you in silence,
we often speak your name.
Now all we have is memories,
and your picture in a frame.
Your memory is our keepsake,
with which we'll never part.
God has you in his keeping,
we have you in our hearts.

Re: Need help for a memorial poem
I'm sorry to hear of your loss. FH and I are using this (in memory of our dad's and other family members we have lost)... This will be printed on the last page of our programs! Those we love remain with us for love itself lives on, and cherished memories never fade because a loved one’s gone...
Those we love can never be more than a thought apart, for as long as there is memory, they’ll live on in the heart.
Mary Alice Ramish
I have other ideas of how to incorporate them into the wedding without making it a really sad time. FM if you need anymore ideas or anything. HTH's.

Re: Need help for a memorial poem
Also, another bride on here (Kim) who also lost her father shared a wonderful (yet very sad) poem with us......I am setting up a table near the entrance to the ceremony site- it will have a picture of my dad in a frame, a memoriam candle, and this poem. I am going to light it right before I walk down the aisle (for symbolic purpose: light the candle for your dad to walk down the aisle with you)....
Walk me down the aisle Dad
You’re the only one who can
Over these scattered rose petals
To where I’ll take his hand
Walk me down the aisle Dad
And fill my heart with peace
Whisper that you’re proud of me
Set my soul at ease
Walk me down the aisle Dad
Though it seems I walk alone
I carry you inside my heart
Life lessons not outgrown
Walk me down the aisle Dad
And dry my endless tears
My life’s forever changing
I miss you more each passing year
If God would grant me just one wish
I’d wish for one more day
For you to walk me down the aisle, Daddy
And give your daughter away.
