Please help me! URGENT CANCER~

We found out in April that my Dad has cancer of the liver. :( He just had the surgery for it last week. Thank God it was operable. Last night we went to see this guy that sells this vitamin. It is called CELLECT. He swears by it that it has saved so many lives of people with all kinds of cancers, esp. pancreatic. He is a 29 year survivor of pancreatic cancer. He is a wonderful man. My parents can't afford the vitamins and he offered to not charge them or they can pay him whatever they feel they can if that would make them feel better. He is not in it for the money. Does anyone out there know of this?? His name is Fred Eichhorn and the website is www.cellect.org . He has his own not -for- profit organization called The National Cancer Research Foundation. That website is www.ncrf.org. So right now, this moment, we are trying to decide if my Dad should have more preventative chemo (Which this guy is saying Chemo is actually causing the cancer) or he should forego the chemo and get this body chemistry normal so there will be new cells produced and if any cancer cells they die off. It is only vitamins and minerals. Natural not holistic (herbs). It is shark cartlidge, cod liver oil, chromium picolinate, Calcium, Vitamin A and D. Stuff like that.

If you are familiar with any of this and can help anyway, please let me know.
Thanks so much,
Denise

Call the American Cancer Society. They may have some information on this type of drug/vitamin. They are very helpful with questions of this sort (I'm a frequent caller of theirs). Hopefully they will have some answers for you. Good luck with everything.

Re: Please help me! URGENT CANCER~

it sounds like a case of 'if it sounds to good to be true- it is '

I would be leary of a mircale vitamin

what about asking if your Dad could speak to some people who have used it

I doubt that chemo causes cancer-

This sounds like a scam, even though he is claiming to not want money now- I'm sure his tune will change after the first bottle is gone

Re: Please help me! URGENT CANCER~

Yes, my parents have spoken to two people who currently use his product and swear by it. Their cancer just disappeared! I know it sounds too good to be true... But I am sorry to offend anyone, but I have always believed that somewhere, someone knows that their is a cure for cancer, but it is too much of a money making illness for a cure to surface. Sorry if I get anyone upset by my statements...

Re: Please help me! URGENT CANCER~

Definitely call the American Cancer Society and see what they have to say...
Now, with that said... I know of two people that died within a month of being diagnosed with cancer. It was NOT the cancer that killed them...it was the chemo. Chemo is dangerous and kills the cancer cells ALONG with good cells. BOTH of these people died because they contracted an infection and their bodies were not strong enough to fight it. The one was a friend of mine. She strongly believes her Mother would still be alive and would have lived a better life even if the cancer did killer her because she would have been 'healthy' and active.

I really don't know what I would do in your families situation. My Mom passed from Colon Cancer a few years ago. She fought to the very end. Her faith kept her going for two years after diagnosis and after being given a 4-6 mth 'death sentence'.

Many prayers for your Dad and your family.

Yes, with chemo you are immuno-compromised. So you have to be careful. My FMIL couldn't have sushi, fresh vegetables, etc while she was on chemo, just to be safe. But, if you have a normal immune system prior to cancer, then usually it is fine. Yes, there is a risk that if you have a chemo treatment and you DON'T have cancer, then you can get it. This is a fear with people with Lupus who use breast cancer chemo for treatment and don't actually have cancer. But since your father did just have surgery for cancer, I would think that it is fine. It's similar to when a person has a lumpectomy to remove breast cancer and has chemo after. The tumor markers are still up and so it's removing any possible traces of cancer without risk of causing more cancer. It sounds like this person selling vitamins is anti-medicine, and might be causing more harm than good if it prevents people from getting the right treatments. I'm not an oncologist (my FMIL had breast cancer a few years ago and I learned a lot in the process). I would seek the opinion of a few oncologists before deciding. But don't be afraid of chemo. It's a treatment that is used a LOT and has success in some kinds of cancers. I would be weary of holistic treatments. I hope this helps.

Re: Please help me! URGENT CANCER~

OK...so I'm a skeptic and don't trust the government much...so as much as I would love to say to call the ACS, I personally wouldn't because I know they would deny it.
With that said, I also think (muck like you) that the cure is out there...but there's no money in the cure, the money is in the treatment.
I can't tell you what to do, but will say that my sister was diagnosed with a blood disorder - IPT - (that can cause cancer) and was on Prednisone for almost 3 years. They would lower her doses but keep telling her that there was no cure and she would stay on it forever. Well, lo and behold she did sme research and found natural pills that people swore by...they were pricey but people said it saved their life! My sister bought it because after all 'it's all vitamins'...and as a result her platelet count doubled in a little over a month and she was taken off Prednisone.
My mom is taking some vitamins that my sister bought for her kidney stones as well as a home remedy (olive oil, lemon and honey) that brakes up her stones since the doctor prescribed medicine was making her sick...and again, my mom is feeling a million times better and her stones are dissapearing.

Cancer is a serious illness and you should always be advised by a doctor. I wish you and your dad the best!

Re: Please help me! URGENT CANCER~

I remember seeing something on a news show a while back about a man claiming to have a cancer preventative in the form of vitamins and supplements, I really wish I could remember what show this was, anyway his products were so overpriced and Dr's were dispelling his vitamins. They had him on undercover video basically bullying a woman who was recovering from breast cancer into buying his products, spending upwards of $500.

I have no idea if this is the same man but it just sounded so familiar

Re: Please help me! URGENT CANCER~

Your dad has been in my thoughts since yesterday. Hope all goes well!

I just wanted to recommend a great book, it helped me understand a LOT and is recommended for cancer patients (I took it from my former boss' collection)...Anatomy of an Illness by Norman Cousins.

Short read - but read it!

I second that. Before your father moves forward with any vitamin, he should contact the American Cancer Society, and speak to his physician.

Good Luck!!!

Re: Please help me! URGENT CANCER~

This is what my friend the Med Student had to say:

'I never know what to make of things like this, but be aware that there are hundreds of people and especially websites that claim to have the cure for cancer. They all have success stories and pseudo-science to back them up. Does it work, probably not. Does it help, maybe. Does it hurt, only in the wallet. There are two things that always bother me about these vitamin or dietary cures. 1) They are usually very expensive. And 2) They always act as if doctors are a bunch of morons with their heads in the sand. As if doctors take pleasure in giving people very powerful chemicals that put people on the verge of death to help beat the cancer. Cancer research is funded well into the billions, but somehow some Joe Schmo (not the surprisingly entertaining reality TV show) working in his mom's basement has come up with the answer?? If so, GREAT. But, just like the new use of a chemo regimen and its overwhelming success towards treating early breast cancer made front page news and all the news channels (w/ a success rate of about 70-80%), if any of these vitamin and diet plans worked half as well as they claim, there would be no more cancer deaths. I can't say whether it would work, but a lot of 'science' on their webpage is just flat out wrong.

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Oncologists are usually up on this kind of thing so I would recommend talking to him/her before making any drastic decisions.

One other thing to avoid… sometimes family or friends read about things like this and then pressure the affected person to try it. It can create tension in a time when walls should be knocked down and not built up.

Phew…..in the spirit of actually doing some work, I better leave it at that.

Good luck to whoever has been pushed far enough to consider this.'

I also lost my Mom to cancer- and while the chemo was rough for her- she fought also for 2 years after being given 3 months to live- in the end I am not sure if it was the chemo that weaken her immuno sysytem or the fact that she have cancer of the immuno system- non-hodgkins lymphoma- that causes her death

I wish you family the best of luck- but I agree with all of the above posts- if some one really had the cure for cancer- less people would be dying

He sounds like a modern day snake oil salesman- and there are TONS of them out there hawking everything from miracle diet diets, boob growing pills- to cancer cures

Our family friend was also my Mom's oncologist- he is one of the best on LI- if there was other thing else he could have done besides chemo- he would have- he didn't take any money from us- not even a co-pay the office visists

Re: Please help me! URGENT CANCER~

This is Denise. I didn't realize that my sister was logged on. I am at her house posting this. So, rather than log her out, I will just post under her name.

Thank you all for responding. I am going to have my parents talk to their oncologist. PrincessRachel, please thank your friend for me wholeheartedly. :)

I love you all so much and promise to let you know what my dad decides but I think he will lean toward def. getting more chemo and trying the vitamins since this guy is not charging him any money.

You all made a LOT of sense and I was wrestling with the fact too, that if somethign is too good to be true, it probably isn't!

Re: Please help me! URGENT CANCER~

Hi Denise,
I just wrote a really long note to you but it did not go through. I am sorry I just came across your posting about Cellect and I hope its not too late. I know that Cellect does work for Cancer and other diseases. I would be happy to give you and others the doctors names who are recommending it to their patients. It really is curing people. Unfortunately there are so many sceptics, but w/good reason (there are lots of kooks out there).
Well, anyway this is a much shorter version of my first e-mail and i am exhausted. I had to join this website to write to you. So I made up all the info...I am not married, not getting married and don't even have a boy friend (know anyone?lol) but I felt compelled to contact you.
Please let me know what your Dad decided on. My Mom has Cancer but does not believe in Cellect. It breaks my heart to see her w/ all the Chemo complications because I know Cellect works. I have visited Fred at his home and have followed up w/the people and doctors using it. I have seen a law suit from a doctor who is suing him for $25,000 for interfering in his Chemo treatments(Fred cured him). Contact me if you like @[email protected]
God Bless
Linda Perico
