PLEASE help with Eve of Milady gowns

My daughter is just about ready to order her Eve of Milady gown but is extremely busy with her new job and so many social responsibilities that come with this time of year. She saw it at Bridal Reflections in Carle Place and just wants to check around a bit for a better price. I am trying to help all I can so I FM one of the very lovely and helpful brides on LIW. She responded by saying E of M wants a full year to make up the gown. We now have 10 1/2 months.

Please let me know where you got your Eve of Milady gown, and how far in advance did you order yours? She wants style # EM017. Which one did you order? I am waiting for the salons to open this morning and I will try to get some more prices for her. I know if I call my daughter it will totally ruin her day and put much more pressure on her at work.

I appreciate any and all suggestions.

Oh, did anyone find that a salon may be offering a gown at a cheaper price and then makes up the difference with expensive alterations?

Thank you so very much.
Mary

Re: PLEASE help with Eve of Milady gowns

Did you look on their website to see what stores carry them??
Call and ask from there. I found my bridal store -lidia's to get great for the dress and alterations & bustle cap at $150, but you need to find out who carries the designer.

As you know I did buy my eve @ BR in Carle Place. Maddy was my counselor and she was great! Did you try Princess in Farmingdale?

Re: PLEASE help with Eve of Milady gowns

If you don't mind driving, check out Bridal Suite in CENTEREACH. I did not buy an Eve of Mylady gown, however, they beat Bridal Reflections price on my gown and capped their alterations fairly low ($200 not including the bustle). Plus, they were WONDERFUL to work with and were able to rush my dress in less than 3 months with no extra charge. I know they carry Eve of M. Call them.
if you decide to go with them, ask for Debby, she is fabulous!! Good LUck

Re: PLEASE help with Eve of Milady gowns

I WOULD NOT WORRY ABOUT THE LESS THAN 1 YEAR RULE I was looking at Amalia Carrara her couture line and was told that I could order 8-10 months in advance by most places and if needed even less than that but they don't like to do that.

I wouldn't hold off for long but if she orders soon I don't think there is any worry.

My mother works with a lady whose daughter had a 2 year engagement - and wanted a dress that the salon told her she could not order the dress after 12 months. Well she got pregnant and pushed the wedding up to 3 months and suddenly they were able to get her the dress in that time period (with NO rush charge)- I think that if you really wanted the dress there is a way to get it - and you aren't so close that you would have to pay a rush charge

Good Luck

Re: PLEASE help with Eve of Milady gowns

I ordered my Eve of Milady at Kleinfeld at the end of April 2002, and it was in at the end of January 2003.

I think if she orders right now she'll be fine. Kleinfeld had very competitive prices on Eve gowns, that's why I ordered it there. I also gave a slightly fake date, but had no worries. RK Bridal has great prices, but I'm not sure how they'll be with delivery. Kleinfeld is Eve's top dealer and rumor has it she gives them the best service. The seamstress I had also was an artisan at Eve gowns, she knew everything that would have to be done to it before it even made it on my body!

FM me if you want more info on who I dealt with at Kleinfeld. They were wonderful!!

Re: PLEASE help with Eve of Milady gowns

I got an Eve of Milady from RK Bridal in Manhattan. It came in like 4-5 months after I ordered it. RK gave me an approximate delivery date and it came in around that time. RK also has very competitive prices and the alterations there are capped at $250. Good luck!!

Re: PLEASE help with Eve of Milady gowns

E of M does need 12 months, but they'll be able to get it done for you, don't worry. Do some price checking, but don't wait too much longer to order. The little savings that you MAY find won't be worth the aggrevation later on. Also, whoever you decide to use, make sure they tell E of M the wedding date is a month earlier than it really is. I'm using Macy*s.

Good Luck!

Re: PLEASE help with Eve of Milady gowns

I ordered my Eve Of Milady Gown from Bridal Suite in Centereach. I ordered it 8 months before my wedding and it came in in 3 months. I was also told that Eve Of Milady is the longest by all the salons, but Bridal Suite got it in 3 months after I ordered it. If you want to check out Bridal Suite, ask for Debbie. She is wonderful!!! Also, that shop has no affiliation to the Bridal Suite in Patchogue.

Re: THANK YOU ALL!

Hi girls. It was a very busy day and I am very grateful to all of you who took the time to respond. Many of you offered such excellent advice and i appreciate everyone's help.

I followed all your recommendations and made quite a few phone calls. Most places were very accommodating and anxious to work with us with the price. However, none of the salons has a sample of the gown my daughter wants in their store. She wants to try it on again and make a few modifications as to adding a few feet to the length of the train, and so on. I then called Kleinfeld's and although they do not have a sample of that particular gown in the store either, they will be having a trunk show in Mid-July, and they will ask the designer to bring it in for my daughter. As of now, my daughter is waiting for a phone call back to confirm her request and to make an appt. for the trunk show. They also assured me that even 6 months is enough time for an Eve of Milady gown at their store.

Good luck to you all with your own wedding plans. I will keep you posted.

Mary

Re: PLEASE help with Eve of Milady gowns

I got mine at RK Bridal, No Frills. I looked for the cheapest price I could find online, than got RK Bridal to match the price. I saved $900. The dress came in 4 months. I did have some issues with RK with the BM dresses but everything was very smooth with my dress.
