Pronovias Dress Sizing

I ordered my dress tonight.. A Pronovias. The size is double what my normal dress size is! Is that crazy or has anyone else experienced this with Pronovias? And, do alterations really work? My dress style is Altea.

Thanks!

Re: Pronovias Dress Sizing

Many European dresses or even couture dresses are larger than your normal size. My dress is 2 sizes above my regular size. Pronovias may have their sizing equivalent to European size charts, not US.

Re: Pronovias Dress Sizing

Yes they run small. Wedding dress sizes normally run about a size small as do European dresses and since your Pronovias is both a wedding dress and European they run at least two sizes small. I normally wear a 4-6 and I think my salon measured me and ordered a 10. Not sure what you mean about the alterations. Alterations in general or on you specific gown?

Re: Pronovias Dress Sizing

Thanks for your help! Alterations in general. I know they said order what the measurements are, I just want to make sure it hugs like the dress should! But hey, that's what alterations are for, right?

If you are working with a talented seamstress, alterations can do wonders! So, yes they really do work

Re: Pronovias Dress Sizing

Firstly, wedding gown sizes usually run much bigger than your normal size. I also noticed that Couture gowns run even bigger than other gowns.

As far as the alterations go, don't worry. If you have a good seemstress, which I am sure you do. She will make that gown fit like a glove. My gown was way big on me and I freaked out. But it fit perfect when she was done with it.

May I ask which store you got your gown at?

Re: Pronovias Dress Sizing

Dont worry about - wedding dresses run small. I wear a 0 and was ordered a size 4.
