Having purple hydrangea centerpieces more expensive than purple roses? Does anyone know the going rate of Hydrangeas?

Re: Purple hydrangeas

I am having blue hydrangeas and for my centerpieces I was quoted $4 each one. I have no idea how much roses are tho. however, since hydrangeas are so full you will need a lot less! Hope that helps!!!!

Re: Purple hydrangeas

I have no idea of the price for them..But keep in mind one thing: hydrangeas vary in shades even in the 'color' family... I have seen alot of brides disappointed that their 'blue' hydrangea weren't blue enough, pink enough, green enough etc.. It is all determined by the PH in the soil they are grown in...Florists can promise 'blue' 'purple' and sometimes they are various shades...not as 'deep' as you wanted.. Just keep that in mind...

my florist said that if i kept everything to Roses and hydrangea it would be cheaper than doing other flowers , so it may not be much more.

so true. my cousin had a meltdown over her hydrangeas that came in a beautiful lighter blue than the deep blue she envisioned. and I mean full on meltdown when she saw them. I've changed them in my yard but you cant order them that way.

Re: Purple hydrangeas

Hydrangeas are less expensive then roses...but not by much. I believe it is just because they are larger so you need less of them.

Re: Purple hydrangeas

I worked at a florist for a few years. Most places charge $5-6 for hydrangas. Roses usually are $5

Re: Purple hydrangeas

I believe Hydrangas are less then roses. They are also a good filler flower.

yup. My florist gets them from another country and this year they are growing lighter in color in normal. But the one's on the side of my house were dark purple and blue.

Re: Purple hydrangeas

Thanks. I am not sure if I'd freak out if it were lighter, it might be a nice contrast.

Re: Purple hydrangeas

I luv them too. I won a consultation with David Tutera and ask him the same question, he said most people think hydrangeas r expensive but they're actually not. He recommended me to use Chinese Hydrangeas because they're fuller. Hope this helps.
