temples in Long Island

I just recently became engaged and we are now in the process of looking at places to get married. Has anyone gotten married at Temple Emanu-el in Great Neck or Temple Israel in Lawrence? Or can anyone else recommend a temple that they had a great experience at? We are looking for someplace that can hold roughly 300 people.

Re: temples in Long Island

I went to a wedding at temple Israel of Lawrence about 10 years ago, and it is soooo pretty. The wedding was beautiful, and the food was good also. Funny you should mention this becuase I was just talking about this last night to my Fh about how nice it was.

Re: temples in Long Island

I am getting married at the Sephardic Temple. The room hold over 400 people so you would have no problem there. I also checked out a bunch of other temples if you have any questions.

Re: temples in Long Island

My parents got married at sephardic temple - we looked there - the synagogue is beautiful - how many people are you having? and what time are you starting your ceremony? I'm also going to look at beth torah and woodbury jewish center.

Thanks!

Re: temples in Long Island

I am not getting married there, but I looked at Beth Torah and actually went to a wedding there. I loved it, the food is amazing. The price was just a little too high for me and we didn't have enough people (I'm having between 100 and 125). I actually liked it better than the one in Lawrence. My cousin got married at the Sephardic Temple, it is also very beautiful. Congrats and good luck!

Re: temples in Long Island

We are inviting 280. My wedding actually starts really late since it is in August. Sundown is at around 8:15 so we put the invite at 9. We figured this would give us enough time to take some pictures, have the room set up, and sign the Ketubah.

By the way, I loved Beth Torah when I saw it. It would have been my tough call if price was no object. They have a beautiful cocktail hour room and ballroom whereas the synagogue at Sephardic is beautiful.

Re: temples in Long Island

Briana- are you taking pictures anywhere else? 45 min for pics and the ketubah signing is really cutting it close...I had 3 hours of pics and that was still not enough...If yoiu invite says 9 people are going to start showing up around 8:30....
I was just wondering....

Sorry, I totally didn't make that clear. I am taking pictures before that (Not sure where yet) but I also wanted time to take a few formal shots at the temple.

Re: temples in Long Island

I am getting married at the East Meadow Jewish Center in 6 weeks. They can hold up to 300 people.

My invites called for 9:30 and yesterday my FI and I meet w/ our rabbi and he doesn't think the ceremony will begin until 10:00. We are taking pictures before at EAB Plaza.
