White or ivory?? Please help!

Ok, so just when I thought I was done with tuxes, I am freaking out about the color scheme, and I could really use some feedback. Sorry for the long post!

Here's the situation - We are getting the GM tuxes and everyone's vests (FH has a tux) from Men's Wearhouse. We planned on getting FH an ivory vest/tie, and the vest matches my dress perfectly. So we figured we'd get everyone ivory shirts.

Since FH is tall and thin (16, 36/37 shirt) we are going to tailor his tux to be a better fit, and wanted to tailor the shirt as well (so he's not swimming in it). However, we couldn't find an ivory shirt for him to buy (MW won't tailor rental shirts). Someone suggested we do a white shirt with the ivory vest, but this looks a little off (in my opinion). So we thought, ok, he'll just wear the rental ivory shirt, and the vest will keep it from looking too baggy. But when we looked again the ivory shirt is TOO ivory. It's a little more like cream compared to the vest.

So now I am freaking out. I have 3 options, and have no idea what to do:
1) Go with the original - ivory and ivory (with the shirt being a little more yellow than the vest).
2) Mix the white shirt with the ivory vest
3) Go with a white shirt and white vest.

I have until the 15th to decide what I want, but I really don't know what to do. I felt like I was going to be sick at MW

If it helps, my dress is ivory, and we're going with ivory shirt and ivory vest/tie for FH. At this point, if it doesn't match perfectly, I don't really care.

Also, things photograph differently, so it may match in pics.

aw, try not to stress about it so much that you feel sick. your wedding is approaching and i'm sure that is really stressing you but i really do think that ALL THREE of those options are fine, so don't worry about which one you decide to pick! i PERSONALLY would not pick ivory/ivory since you said the shirt does not fit as good as the color isn't exactly what you wanted anyway. i think white and ivory go lovely together, and it seems like you really like how it matches your dress- so why not keep the ivory for the vest and just wear a white shirt that fits nicely?

Why not do an off white shirt? Bought my FH one from Bloomies for a wedding we attended...just a thought

I'd personally go with white/white. You have a LOT more options for shirts. Plus, the stark black/white contrast is part of what makes a tuxedo look so sharp.

If you need some recs on where to get some of these items, let me know. A lot of them can be easily ordered.

my dress was off white and dh had a white shirt with black vest and ivory tie. it didn't look off at all!

My husband had Ivory Vest & Shirt & they matched perfectly. Y dont they match???? Look in my non-pro pics he totally matches. My dress was Ivory & we do not mismatch either.

Hey soo I just was at Mens wearhouse and went over the same dilemna.

The guy that helped me was awesome and actually convinced me that the white shirt with the ivory vest and tie does not clash but works really well!

We put it all on the manaquin and it worked out so nicely!. The ivory stands out to match my dress. The ivory vest with the ivory shirt were two different tones of ivory and the shirt did look yellow. Plus all the guys have white shirts so it'll all match in that regard. I think you can do white with ivory!
