For Bridal Bouquets w/ Exposed Stems, are you worried about your stems leaking on your dress
Hey Girls - I need to finalize my flowers - like NOW - my florist wants to know if I want my bridal bouquet with exposed stems or fully wrapped. I really like the exposed stem look, but I am freaking out that the stems might run on my dress. My florist made me sign a waiver telling me that there is a chance this could happen!! They are recommending wrapped stems, but I see so many girls with the exposed stem look that I love...If they can do it, and it's ok, I don't see what the problem is??? What are you hearing from your florists and what do you plan to do?? Thanks!!

yes, the stems can leak on your dress...however, if you have them dip the ends in wax...this should fix the problem. Hope it helps!

mine were exposed... i had no problem... you just have to make sure to dry them off when you take them out of the water... have some towels near by... and if water dripped on the dress it did dry...

flowers with wider stems (like sunflowers or full size calla lilies) will hold more water in the stems so the chances are greater of them leaking than say roses or tulips. just make sure you take them out of water about an hour before the ceremony unless they are super delicate in which case a half hour should do. good luck! what kind of flowers are you using?

my florist refuses to make a bouquet with the stems exposed. she had flowers in water and took them out and put them on the table to show how they bleed. just be careful!

ours refuse as well...which is fine with me..i never gave it much thought, but the day of, the last thing i want to do is run around looking for a way to clean/dry my dress...or try to melt wax to get it on there.

RE:For Bridal Bouquets w/ Exposed Stems, are you worried about your stems leaking on your dress
Just had my wedding, with a beautiful stems- exposed bouquet tied with ribbons. I wouldn't recommend it: they leaked and the amount of energy and concentration I had to put into not staining my satin dress was totally distracting. As we had asked the photographer to do informal shots, most of them are of me holding my bouquet upside down or awkwardly away from my body. I should have listened to my bridesmaids' good advice before ordering...they suggested a trailing bouquet with a bound non- leaky "handle". I can't say "maybe next time"- I intend this to be the only time!!Welcome New Vendors
