Restaurants in or near Manhasset
My parents are going to meet my FMIL in law for the first time. What are some nice, mid-priced, yummy, not too fancy, restaurants in or near Manhasset? Thanks!

Re: Restaurants in or near Manhasset
Stressa is on Northern BLVD in manhasset. Very good, little pricey though, but worth it. Il Melino just opened. That is about 10-15 min further east on Northern. You also have your pick on steak houses there also...Peter Luger's is on northern in great neck, burton and doyle and Mortons. If you like Japanese food, Benihanna (? spell) in also in Manhasset on northern rightnext door to Bed bath and beyond and is sooooo good. might be a good option. it's fun. Let me see if i can think of anything else....oh, if you like Fusion Food, there is a great resturant in Great Neck on Middle NEck road called Wild Ginger that is good. It is in a shopping center.Hope this helps!

There's a very casual Greek place (sit down restaurant) on Plandome Road in Manhasset.

Benihana's is right across from the Americana. Definitely a social atmosphere and a little more laid back then other restaurants.

Mille's in the Americana is good, might be a little $$ though just b/c of where it's located. I think its just an italian/american place..

Re: Restaurants in or near Manhasset
Millie's is good for lunch. For dinner, I don't like the food. Diane's is definitely my favorite (I actually had my shower there). The Greek restuarant is called Mykonos and is on Plandome road. Its inexpensive and casual. But definitely good food. Its a little small though. There is Bryant and Cooper on Northern Blvd which is excellent. I would definitely say that it is the best of the steakhouses on Northern Blvd. There is also Nick and Pedro's on Northern Blvd by Domain. Its good Italian food. Moderate prices, casual but still nice atmosphere.

Re: Restaurants in or near Manhasset
Cafe Continental on Northern Blvd. has excellent Italian food. I have been to Diane's and personally couldn't stand it --beside the fact that they were so rude --I didn't think the food was that great.

Re: Restaurants in or near Manhasset
Thanks for all the advice. Talked with my FI more...his mom is NOT an adventurous eater and she likes her steak burnt to a crisp. So no greek, definitely no steak houses. Aside from Italian which my dad is not a fan of - are there any 'New American' restaurants in the area?Similar menu to like 11 Madison Park in the City. Same prices is fine, cheaper preferred.
Sorry to be such a pain...

Hunan Taste is a great chinese restaurant on Northern Blvd. New American.....what's that???? I think Diane's might fall into that category. There is also Riverbay, an excellent seafood restaurant in Williston Park.

Based on score of 30 in 3 categories: Food, Decor, and ServiceTrattoria Diane F: 25; D: 21; S: 22; $52
Inspired food in an intimate setting makes for an elegent evening epicures who've dined at this sophisticated yet charming northern italian trattoria in Roslyn; the imaginative Tuscan menu changes with the seasons and teh quality is always outstanding (you can't resist the wonderful breads made in house and the even better desserts); the staff is accommodating as well and the $30 price fix may be the deal of the decade.

Re: Restaurants in or near Manhasset
Stressa F: 23, D: 21; S:21 $52You get what you pay for according to admirers of this lovely italian duo in manhasset and woodbury- they're pricey, to be sure, but with outstanding food, beautiful decor, and swift service, you feel like royalty; gripers grouse about stuffy pretentious attitudes and cold shoulders unless you are known but regulars retort that the proprietors really know how to keep their guests de-stresa-ed.

Re: Restaurants in or near Manhasset
Buongusto: F: 18; D: 15; S: 19 $35The staff is warm and the food is hearty at this traditional old-style Italian in Roslyn where there are no surprises on the menu; cynics shrug at the ordinary eats and feel the decor needs sprucing up but the friendly atmosphere and well priced generous portions make it popular for family parties.
