40th Anniversary

My parents will be married for FORTY years on June 19th!

My brother and I threw them a surprise party for their 35th Anniversary and my mom has said a few times that she doesn't want a party for this one! That being said, I still want to do SOMETHING to celebrate and honor them...

My parents LOVE to sail but they sold their boat about 10 years ago. I was thinking of chartering a boat and hosting a very small cocktail party with just our immediate family and a few of their closest friends. Thoughts? Still waiting on pricing....which will be a determining factor!

Another thought is to send them away for a long weekend somewhere....maybe even out east to Montauk, Block Island, or Shelter Island...

thoughts? ideas? TIA!

Re: 40th Anniversary

As long as the price is right, I would absolutely go with the sailing idea...it seems right up their alley.

But if it's too expensive, a somewhat local weekend getaway would be great too!

Are they into Broadway? If so, another option could be tickets to a show and a hotel stay in the city?

40 years!

Re: 40th Anniversary

i really like the sailing idea BUT if your mom said she doesn't want a party, then i don't think it'd be a good idea to do that. sorry
