ADELZ.....Help please!
DH & I were thinking about going to New Orleans around Halloween time.Sinc eyou just went..is it the type of city where you need a car to get around? or can we do without? we really want to see the French Quarter...if we stay in another area to save some money on a hotel, is it close enough to walk to the French Quarter?
and one more question!
are there any direct flights to New Orleans or do you HAVE to stop and transfer along the way? Thanks so much!

Re: ADELZ.....Help please!
Omg, you're going to love it there! We didn't get a car and def didn't need it. We stayed in the French Quarter (Marriot on Canal Street), and we were around everywhere we needed to be. They also have trolleys (so much fun to take!) that you can take to all the main tourist areas. For $3 you can get an all day pass and ride them all day long. Then if you want to do things like Mardi Gras World or take a swamp tour, you can take the trolley to the boats area where it is. So def don't need a car, and I wouldn't recommend it -- Valet parking was like $25-30 at all the hotels for the most part and street parking ******.
Try to stay right in the french quarter - soo many restaurants and things to do and plus you can just walk to Bourbon street, party hard and walk back

We took a direct flight back to NY - so they def exist, on the way there, we had a lay over only because it was cheaper for the deal I got on Travelocity, but they def have direct flights - it's about a 3 hr flight, so not bad at all!
Let me know if you have any other questions - loved it there!!!

Re: ADELZ.....Help please!
this is awesome, thanks so much! i saw the Marriott tha tyou were looking at but we didn't want to spend $500+ a night
how long did you guys stay for? We were thinking of staying for 3 days - is that enough you think?
and if we stay outside of the french quarter, is it easy enough to get from one area to another? are the different sections even close to each other?

$500 a night?! Whoa that's nuts, I'm pretty sure we spent around $100 a night. I booked a deal through Travelocity. Which dates are you going again? Let me see what I can find.
Not sure about outside the French Quarter---I think if you want the full experience of it, I would stay there.
Let me know the dates, let me see what I can find!
