anybody know of a place in nyc...

that can have a private party for about 75 people and won't cost a million dollars? I still have yet to plan the Christening, and it looks like it will be postponed until the end of April now...I need a place in Jersey ideally, but it's slim pickins over here.

Anybody know of anything in NYC that would suit this kind of party?

Re: anybody know of a place in nyc...

My DH has an annual dinner at Morans in the Vessey street area - its fraternity related and they put on a great spread - this year it was $50 per peron for open bar, 3 diff passed hors d'ouvers, and a buffet - I think we had a chicken, carving station, salmon, salad, roasted potatoes...and a cake. I'm pretty sure that included the tip too.
I bet brunch might be a lot cheaper.

FM me if you want more details.
The satff were super friendly, and the room is wood floor, nice Irish (not too ) deep green walls and its a private room - we had 90 people this year - theres also a parking lot right next door

ETA - I found the addy - its on Washington, and I found a link Morans
but there are 2 locations - we were at the Washington / Rector street location

I was also going to suggest Morans.

Carmines Uptown has a private room and a reasonable party menu (about $50/pp) but I dont know how many it holds.

What about the Chart House in Weehawken? I know it's in NJ but you can take the ferry over from NYC and it's very close. They have an upstairs room for private parties. I know that the brunch downstairs is only about $15 per person. I am sure it would be more for a private party but I don't think the prices are too bad!
