Are/did you eat top layer of wedding cake on first anniversary?

DH thinks its crazy to wait a year to eat the cake. He says that it is gross to eat cake a year old. I wouldn't mind having it on our year anniversary; however, DH thinks we should have it on our one month anniversary (which is tomorrow) instead.

Did you or are you planning to eat the top layer of your wedding cake on your 1 year anniversary? If so was it horrible??

We did it when we got back from the honeymoon. LOL We needed the room in our freezer!

No, my dad got a little antsy after the wedding and ate half of the top teir... we decided to leave it out for people to eat so we dont have a cake to eat

We're going to. It's taking up SO much room in our freezer...only 5 more months to go! We made it this so far, so we aren't breaking down now lolol

We ate half of it during the week after the wedding and frooze the other half.

We didnt want to waste cake since we heard stories of it tasting like crappola after freezing it for a year. So we said, heck, we will eat half and do the 'traditional' thing w/ the other half.

We're planning on it! And I'm looking forward to it because I didn't really get to eat it on the day of, except when it got smushed on my face by hubby lol. It does take up room in our freezer, but I'm sticking to it.

We got married on January 2nd (2010), and ate some of it on Valentine's Day. We were moving during the summer, and knew the cake would not survive the move. It tasted good, but definitely nowhere near as delicious as it did at our wedding!

we did it. once you take off the top layer of frosting, the cake isnt that bad. lol.

of course DH was concerned we would get sick, so we only had one bite for 'Tradition'...then we trashed it.

it was a pretty funny moment b/c we opened the box with like 30 seconds left on our anniversary day. so yeah, at midnight we had chocolate and cream all over our face. haha

We're prob going to do it, I had a vacuum sealer so we're hoping it's not horrible. Definitely scraping off the frosting though, we didn't even like it that night!

We ate ours. It wasn't very good

My cake had fresh flowers on it and they didn't take the flowers off, so there were dried up roses around the base and on top. It had a weird aftertaste too, not sure if it was the buttercream or the custard. We each had one bite and called it a night. But it was nice to cut it with him again using the cake cutter from our wedding

our cake never made it home with us so DH and I are going to order a replica of our cake top from the same bakery for our anniversary.

that way, we know it'll be fresh and tasty

we ate it on our 1 year and it was gross, we both took one bite and then tossed it. Soo happy that I had a fresh cake made up like DH's groom cake as our back up for our anniversary so we still had yummy cake that day

We each took 2 bites of ours on our anniversary. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it certainly wasn't good.

As a surprise for DH I went back to the bakery that made our wedding cake and had them recreate it. It was soo good, we ended up eating that one every night for a week. LOL!
