Bank Accounts
I'm not sure which accounts to keep and what to combine.Right now DH and I have individual checking and savings account and recently set up a joint checking and savings. Should we just combine the majority of our individual savings?

Re: Bank Accounts
We still have our individual checking and savings and then we have a joint savings. DH has part of each of his paychecks go into the savings and I pay the bills from my checking. It's a weird setup, but it works, lol.

Re: Bank Accounts
We have a joint checking account and a joint savings account. And then our own individual checking accounts. The joint checking is for bills, the joint savings is for saving for a house.

Re: Bank Accounts
We each have our own checking accounts then we have a joint saving account. I get paid 2x a month and DH gets paid every week so I pay all the bills and put money into savings and he pays for groceries, our metro cards and money for us for the week/when we want to go out.

Re: Bank Accounts
We still have our accounts separate. We split the bills that each one pays for with house and takes care of them

Re: Bank Accounts
We have a joint checking and separate savings. A set amount of $$ gets transferred into the savings and everyday items/bills go out from the joint checking.

ugh this is such a sore subject. we have:2 joint savings accounts
I have 2 individual savings
he has 2 individual savings
we each have individual checking
we're trying to figure out how to consolidate but each account has a very specific purpose or benefit.

Re: Bank Accounts
If you are looking to earn the most interest... I would combine the savings funds and put them into an account with higher interest; like an ING Direct account.... as opposed to keeping the funds in a traditional bank account. ING offers better rates and the more money you put in, the more you will earn.If you are uncomfortable combing all funds, then keep a little play/mad money on the side in indiv accounts.
we keep our stuff together but we each have our own checking accounts... along with a joint cking.
