Beyonce & Jay-z Had a Baby Girl!!

it may have already been posted but Beyonce and Jay-Z had a baby girl on saturday!! congrats to the happy parents!! They named her Blue Ivy Carter.

in other news what does everyone think of the name?

I've personally always loved the name Ivy, its been on my shortlist if we ever have a baby girl for years, too bad my DH hates it. But Blue is just not a name i can get behind. I know that the child of Beyonce and Jay-Z wont ever need to work but what would happen if she wanted to get a normal job. Can you picture that name on a resume some day?

I never really liked Ivy, but its a normal enough name - especially for celebrities...but Blue? It s a color - not a name! Stop trying to make places, things, objects, colors - random items names because they are not! (IMO, of course)
Obviously Blue will never have to work but if she did its ridiculous! no one would take her seriously!

In other related events....didn't Jay Z date Blue Cantrell..odd..i wouldn't name my child after an ex

the name blue is a bit silly but these celebrities seem to like to name their kids odd names. but they were saying the name is a combo of his new album and Ivy is the roman numeral 4 which is her 4th album that's her fave - i think that's what they saaid..but still...blue?

They were originally reporting the name as Ivy Blue, which I was like o that is good, not what I was expecting from Beyonce. A semi-normal first name and an unusual middle name but when I heard it was Blue Ivy was like noooo why do celebrities do this to their children!!!

yea Blue is def an odd one! Although all celebs feel more common names are not good enough for their children lol.

this makes her name even more stupid, why are you naming a child after your own accomplishments? she deserves her own identity...

i like the sentiment behind Ivy because they really believe the number 4 is lucky for them and IV is the roman numeral for 4. plus i just like the name Ivy.

but Blue is ridiculous because its a color not a name. and on top of that it sounds kinda masculine right? if i just heard the name Blue Carter I would think it was a male. maybe that just me though.

and if Jay really did date Blue Cantrell well that just makes it worse. its an unspoken thing for me and DH that the names of exes are not allowed for future children.

I actually used to work with a woman named Blue. She of course was a hippy chic who changed her name to Blue! but she did just fine in the professional world!
