BIRTHDAYS

Do your DH's just plan something for you when its your birthday or do you have to tell them A) what you want to do and B) what you want as a gift ..

DH doesn't really do surprises or gifts... for my 30th last year, I asked him to plan something and he chose that we would go to Disney World together, which I thought was a really sweet choice since he knows I went a lot as a child. I did all the planning from there.

This past year, I had planned a party at our place for my birthday, but we found out a few days before that his mother was very very sick so all those plans went out the window and my birthday was completely forgotten and not celebrated. It was a really hard month.

I think he doesn't really care about bdays because his is on New Year's Day and he's used to it being forgotten or blended into regular New Year's activities.

He usually plans something for me and gets me what i want, but i do have to throw some major hints tho! lol or tell my friends to tell him! haha!!

i still havent gotten what i really want tho! that is a surprise party! i told him he has till 30!! this year ill be 29 so if i dont get one this year, i better get one next year! Lol

Now that we are married we dont really do Birthday gifts anymore. I mean if we want something we just get it. We just usually go out for a nice dinner & drinks.

eta - meaning we always have a joint celebration so it's not really what i want (or what he wants), it's a joint decision.

I do/tell him it all! He gets mad that I always know my gifts but if I didn't I think he would forget all together... lol

We were engaged for 3 years..so during the engagement we didn't do gifts- we just went out to dinner. Now that the wedding's over we'll probably still do dinner. As far as gifts...who knows! Dh is pretty good with gifts though!

I always surprise DH woth his present and go overboard making a big deal about his B-Day with dinner and making baked goods, he hates it, but I love doing it.

DH never knows what to get me and I always have to tell him. My B-Day gets kinda overlooked cause I'm always working (halloween store) and this year the big 30 is getting passed by because my sister is getting married the week after, so nothing big for me this year.

we're like this too! his bday is feb 7th and mine is the 9th so we celebrate 'our birthday' on the 8th

I take celebrating into my own hands. Gifts I will give suggestions but its his thing to do.

I give DH a list of things I want as a gift or I want to do and then he picks from that so that I still get what I want but it's a surprise too.

DH and I also share close birthdays - four days apart. We usually go away for a few days...we don't really exchange physical gifts for birthdays or holidays.

I love being surprised so I never tell DH what to get me. I let him figure it out and so far he has always come with something great

Most often I tell DH what I want for birthdays, holidays, etc. But this year he did great. He bought tickets to Rock of Ages without me even saying anything!

Well DH is not the type of person to forget b-days....and of course mine is not hard to forget considering it is 5 days before Christmas.

He usually buys me a gift. Sometimes he asks me what I want and other times he surprises me.

DH plans where we go out to dinner for my birthday. He will ask for suggestions and then decides and takes care of the reservations and gift.

I usually plan what I'd like to do...but DH always picks out my presents by himself and I always love what he gets me
