Choosing album pictures
Why is it so difficult to pick 60 pictures? Maybe because I have 942 to choose from. I narrowed it down and then narrowed it down some more. I'm down to 146. I stopped looking for a couple of days so hopefully that will help me make my pile less!I would easily just keep all 146, however my photographer is charging me $20 every extra picture! Shutterfly here I come with the pictures that couldn't make it in the album from my photographer!

Re: Choosing album pictures
I narrowed ours down to 80...supposed to pick just 70. Thinking of just sending those in and paying the extra cause I'd like to have the order in before our 1 year anniversary! Here was my strategy:
*Separate into stages of the day (bride getting ready, groom getting ready, church, formal pictures and reception)
*From the church - I only got pictures of those people walking down the aisle that was family - if I did all my bridesmaids I would have way too many
*I tried to tell the story of the day with pictures - picture of our first dance, cake cutting, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, toasts, etc.
*Don't forget that some of these pictures you'll have blown up...so you might not want them in the album and hanging on your wall
It was tought but I would narrow down then let it sit for a day or two then go back and cut some more. If I was iffy about it I cut it.

Re: Choosing album pictures
i had to pick 70 pictures and we got 1000i narrowed it down to 130
i did the same thing, i stopped looking at them for a few days then narrowed it down some more. i got down to 115 and i couldn't do it anymore. I had DH take a look and then he got it down to like105 and i told DH how hard it was and then he just said we'll keep those pictures (because he wanted them too) and pay the difference. Each picture cost us $25 a pop - we ended up paying an additional $500

Re: Choosing album pictures
It was a pain but I did the same thing as Lauren. I went through the pictures and picked out the ones I liked. Then my sister and I sat down and put them into piles of getting ready, ceremony, first look, CH, RH, and VH. Then I went through them that way. We wanted to make sure we had enough of everything so that it tells a story (hense why they call it the storybook layout). I had about 1000 pictures and had to pick 120.Look at it this way...aren't you happy you have too many to pick from then not enough you love?

Re: Choosing album pictures
Yah, totally not a fun thing. We had about 2500 photos, and got to choose 150 -- but we ended up sitting together on a flight to a trip we went on, and it was pretty easy. We literally looked at a picture and if we both didn't LOVE it, then we didn't put it in the pile. Then it was a pile of 500, down to 150 after about 30 minutes or so lol Now we just need to give them to our photographer

Re: Choosing album pictures
I have 1500 proofs and I need to pick 70. I know I'm going to end up adding more, so I said maybe 90. So I think I am going to do it this way.15-PhotoShoots (My house, at the hall, family)
30- Ceremony
60- Reception.
Maybe if I try to narrow it down by category it will be easier.

Bridal Party/Family Photos before Reception

I looked at them again today and narrowed it down to 116. I'm slowly getting closer to 60. I go on Friday to pick out our thank you cards. I doubt I'l be able to choose photos for our album by then!
