Gail my dad is an electrical contractor in freeport & even he is totally dead - there has been very little business & over the past year & 1/2 he has gone from a crew of 12 down to 4 & 1 of those 4 is my brother. So right now he has 3 guys do odds & ends around my parents house out east just so to keep them working. But my dad hasnt taken a paycheck sine b4 I got married as a way to help keep the business afloat...I am so sorry for you & Eric - try to stay strong & know that even if he does get laid off something WILL come along for him. You are in my prayers

I wish DH worked on Long Island, his company hires electricians to do a lot of the machining. We might have been able to help. Still thinking of you.

I'm not sure where on the island you live, but check out SIMS Metal Management. They are DH's company and I'm pretty sure they don't have a hiring freeze right now. It's a recycling company and they have several yards all over the country and I know there's a new one in Brooklyn so it might be worth looking into to see if there are any more on LI. Also, they're a Forbes 500 company, so they are stable, and any job in the NYC area should be safe because they have their recycling contract for I think the next 50 years.

DH's uncle is also an electrician in NYC, I know he's had work, but I don't think it's been that great. In a jam I can always check around and see what's up.
