DH's Job Update!

Ok, so tell me this does not sound a little bizarr-o:

DH had a phone interview from with the store manager of the store he will be working in. The conversation ended with 'I'm going to call the District Manager and tell them I have no problem taking you on as my assistant'.

The next day, Dh's DM from here tell's his boss that he 'may be losing his assistant manager to Ohio' and starting coming up with a plan on how they'd fill DH's place. !! <--so we think something good was said, but again, nothing is official until an offer is made.

Fast Forward to yesterday. DH was scheduled off. He gets a call from the DM out in Cleveland. He asks him a few more questions, and told him a few things. (like the child I am, I was sitting outside the bedroom door eavesdropping, ha)

1.) there is a pay decrease (but it's really not that big of an amount, the cost of living is waaaay lower and he'd still be making more money because we'll be spending less. already looked into insurance for our cars and places to rent, $700 for a 2 bedroom apartment, 1,100 sq ft! we pay $1290 for our 1 bedroom and it's 750 sq ft!)

2.) there are other people he can put in this spot, however, they are untrained, and DH is already trained and has been with the company for over 7 years, the others have been there for less than 2 and haven't produced the number of sales that DH has

3.) if DH does not have the goal of moving up in the company, this is not the right move, but if he plans to push for a promotion months from now, then it's the perfect move.

Later about 6pm last night, the DM calls DH and asks if he can please meet him face to face out in Cleveland some time this week. He will be reimbursed for the travel. ....and he was also told to bring 'his wife along to meet him too'. (wow). (oh, and they don't pay gas receipts, they pay for per mileage, so he'd be making money by taking this trip)

I mean, this has to be good, right? Why would a company spend the money to have him travel out there if they didn't have the potential of choosing him, right??? Does that not sound a little weird? Whatever, I told DH to make it happen, we get a mini weekend out of it and we get to see my BIL and SIL for a weekend while we're at it.

So, we are going out early friday. We are hoping and praying they'll make an offer so we can look at apartments saturday while we're there.
