Do I run the Long Island Half?!
I am soooo torn!!!I just ran the Cherry Blossom 10 mile run in DC 2 weekends ago and I'm hitting a mental roadblock where I don't think I can do it...
I ran a full marathon 3 years ago and ever since then, whenever I do a 'race' I get super anxious and feel like I can't do it. DH says I shouldn't run the longer races if I get so stressed out, but then I feel like a failure if I don't do it! It's almost like, since I ran a marathon I 'should' be able to do these runs - but I can't. Or I think I can't... or something!
What do I dooooooo?! It's May 1st...

Re: Do I run the Long Island Half?!
Im running the Diva so I have plenty of time to train. I think if you feel ready physically but not mentally then yes, you should do it. Youre half way there with the 10K!!! You'll do great. If you are not ready physically sign up for the Diva and keep training. I think you can do it!!!!!
P.S. Congrats on the Cherry Blossom!
ETA: I read it wrong.. You just did a 10 MILE?!? Youre DEFINITELY READY!!!

Re: Do I run the Long Island Half?!
Get over that mental block cuz you can do it!The LI Half is such a nice, relatively easy course too. Races can make anyone anxious but even though they're called a 'race' just think about racing yourself (trying to set a PR, etc).
I signed up for the LI Half but I can't do it since I hurt my knee
So I think you should defintely run it!!

Re: Do I run the Long Island Half?!
Thanks girlssss!I think I get hung up on the fact of even racing myself! I don't know why I let it stress me out because once you finish, it's such a great feeling, but the anticipation of wondering how I'm going to do is nearly too much to take lol. I need to not pay attention to time or anything and get back to being excited about just finishing it, casue it's still a great accomplishment... right?
I'll probably end up doing it! EEK!

Re: Do I run the Long Island Half?!
I defintely know what you mean. I can be very competitive with myself.I considered doing the 5k or the 10k instead but I know my time will be no where near what it was last year because of my injury..which makes me not want to do it!
