When DH calls and says that his mom wants you over for dinner?




Tonight was supposed to be a nice relaxing night at home with DH and Chinese food

yeah i had to deal with the in-laws last night ... glad it's over with

luckily, it's only dinner .... eat fast and escape good luck!

DH's parents never invite us over for dinner so we dont have to deal with that lol

If my MIL lived close enough for this to occur...yeah, it would.

As it is every time DH teels me that she called or emailed I feel really gross and annoyed.

we live 10 minz away...and we go over once a week and as soon as we enter inlaws house, she runs up and says OMG dont u miss ur mother?! where were u guys? what do u guys do all week?

W T *F how about we were at work and school, and grocery shopping, cleaning, errands, sleeping........... its the same story every week! she never gets that we have a LIFE!!!

I have 2 MILs (one is his mother and one is his step)--- and I am happy when MIL wants to eat with us as it means we are going out to dinner but step MIL is a different story...

I get along wit my MIL..the only problem now is that since I married one of her twin sons and now he lives with me, we visit her and she never asks how we are doing or anything like that..she just begins to complain about how all of his stuff hasnt been completely moved out of her apartment and it's really annoying..when I visit my parents they greet me with so much more love its like w t f

noo way!!! we go to the in laws sometimes twice a week for dinner every week.. i really enjoy them!

A little bit, but mainly because DH's mom always has crap all over her apartment and my OCD can't take the clutter. I really want to clean and organize the whole place. But other than that, it's not like I mind hanging out with her or anything and I'm sure DH would have liked it if she wanted to spend more time with us.

Well first off, DH wouldn't agree to a last-minute thing like that unless it was some kind of emergency (and then, I presume, it wouldn't be dinner)

He used to. Then I came along and she tried to pull that stuff and I was all 'hey, YOU can go, but I don't drop whatever my evening plans are because she wants us over' and that was that. I don't care of the evening plans consisted of sitting in front of the TV.

So, she's generally stopped with that kind of crap. Every once in awhile she'll ask, but the tone has changed...it's more of a 'if you guys aren't busy tonight, I cooked _____' though usually, we still decline just because old habits die hard.

my DH's mom has dinner at her house every monday night. I get out of it now though since i have class on monday nights..
