Does it ever stop??

DH just left to go out to the bar with his friends - I feel like he's been going out a little more frequently lately. I was hoping he would slow down after we got married - he said he would, especially now b.c he was diagnosed with diabetes and drinking is not good for him! Does anyone else have this issue?

BTW: We just celebrated 1 year being married. So he did calm down for a while.

Re: Does it ever stop??

hmm First off Happy 1 yr Anniversary!

I don't have that issue b/c DH & I do go out a lot, but we go together.

Does he invite you to go with him? or is it that you just don't want him to go out and drink at all?

Its tricky b/c yes you are married but you can't really tell a grown man what to do, and if you do they may perceive it as nagging, etc.
However, since he is diabetic it really isn't good for him to be going out and drinking so much so he needs to want to do it for himself and for his health.

Re: Does it ever stop??

my first year of marriage...i think DH just spent with his friends we didnt live together before we were married, he just didnt understand that the weekend was not about the guys anymore it was about US doing...grocery shopping, laundry, etc...
it took a year, and now he goes out i think like twice a year lol...
Can you tell him, that it bothers you and give him your reasons why...or can you use that time to go see your parents (if they live close) or hang out with your friends, cousins, get a facial, mani...girly stuff...

Anyways Happy First Year

Re: Does it ever stop??

Happy 1 year !!!!

Usually if Dh goes out we are together. He hangs out with my friends & i han out with his friends. All of his friends are married & allof the wives get along so its great. I only have 2 or 3 single friends but DH really gets along with all of my friends who are married husbands. So we are lucky. But i would say maybe 3 or 4 times per year he goes out with the guys for a guys night. Same here for girls night. Funny thing is Guys night ends way earlier then my girls night. hahahahahahahaha.

Only advice i can give to you is talk about it. Suggest a 3 or 4 time per year thing. Its ok for them to have those nights. They need male bonding time. Time fo rthem to be moronic & silly. Its all good. Its healthy. I just done think its healthy to go out all of the time. Espcially without you.

Re: Does it ever stop??

Thank ladies!

I just get really frustrated b.c I dont drink and there is no way I could stay out until 5am anymore - those days are long gone for me. We have talked about it but i think i figured out why he started doing it more frequently as of late. The friend he has been doing it with is most likely moving away (there is no definite plan) and I think he wants to soak in as much as he can while he is still here. It's amazing how much we have to scrutinize our guys to just figure out one little motive.
