Dream Job?

So as I've been contemplating a major career change and I'm wondering do you work your dream job, and if so what is it? If you are not in your 'dream profession' do you know what it might be?
Okay Discuss away

I'll start..
Current Job- Veterinarian
I thought it would be my dream job and working with animals is all I have ever done, but it is stressing the heck out of me to the point where I feel sick going to work every day. Problem is I'm not sure what the hell else to do with myself and what my next move should be.

Re: Dream Job?

I'm currently a program director at a digital agency...I went to school to work in advertising, so that's worked out.

I think my dream job though would be 1) to be a host on QVC, 2) host on HGTV/interior decorator, 3) professor. But not sure if I'll ever end up at any of those....we'll see

I would love to be a veterinarian. I LOVE animals, and for some reason animal parts and blood and droppings don't make me gag as much has humans do lol.

Totally agree...when i was younger I never wanted to be a teacher...it wasn't until one of my college roommates threw a calc book at me and told me I should be a teacher that I changed my mind. Now, I couldn't imagine doing anything else!!! I'm lovin' being back in HS

It is a ridiculously stressful profession(for many I won't say all). I can't even begin to describe all of the things that stress me out lets see... cases not getting better despite all of my best efforts, clients being angry that we can't diagnose their pet without running diagnostics (apparently I should use my crystal ball), oh and for that matter god forbid having to charge for my services (shouldn't I just do my job for free since I love animals?) animals that people don't care about and don't want to spend money on, very low pay for the amount of work and education put in, people wanting me to put their animal to sleep because it doesn't match their new color scheme, and on and on. I worry constantly about my patients (probably more then their owners do ehhe)

Oh an also forget about ever taking a sick day(unless you are actually hospitalized, paid vacation day (or vacation day in general) or having a baby (unless you plan on returning to work the next day) . Wow I sound bitter. It's been a rough day today

Re: Dream Job?

When I was a substitute teacher, I loved doing that, even though I wanted a permanent position (Not in these times! LOL). Right now I love being a TA with toddlers in Early INtervention

BUUUUTTTT if luck were to strike me:

#1 I wish I was rich so I could be a philanthropist (that is my ultimate dream job)

Guilty Pleasure Dream Job List (mostly wedding themed)

Interior Designer
Christmas window decorator (like at Macys)
Makeup Artist (I've been experimenting lately)
Florist
Wedding coordinator (Even though it's stressful)
Bridal Salon Attendant (Would love to be surrounded by beautiful gowns everyday)

ITA!!! I would love to work for non-profits and help people achieve great things for so many great causes - specifially Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. There's clearly no money to be made in the industry (hence needing to be rich to fully live out the dream), but I think it would so reward and life changing.

Re: Dream Job?

my dream job would honestly be to be SAHM.
I know its difficult today but I would love to do this.

If i had to work, I would say to be a high school teacher, although I am a paralegal now. I love ancient histories and would love to be able to share my love of that to a younger generation

Re: Dream Job?

If I had enough money, my dream job is to buy a large piece of property and start shelters for both homeless people and homeless animals. I would also live on site in a house so that I could visit with everyone at any time of the day.

I'm currently a freelance writer and a writing consultant. I love, love, love both jobs, but the shelters are my dream job and just overall dream in life.
