Duet Albums? *Updated... w/ more questions!*

Soooo, I've decided to begin my albums. Better late than never. Anyway, just curious, did you guys give a lot of special instructions on the form you had to fill out? I mean, there's a few pages that I want done a certain way but mostly I'm leaving it up to them and their creativity. Just curious what the 'norm' was!

ETA: And now that I'm looking at it, the parent albums only come with 24 pages and one photo on each page? For reals? I *told* DH that I'd just make them on shutterfly or something but he insisted on getting the albums through Duet. Has anyone received their parent albums from Duet? Nice? I mean, I know the b&g albums are really nice, but I'm worried about the parent one's for right now!

Oh good, I'm not the only one. I was just SHOCKED that it's only 24 pictures for the parent albums. I'm going through them now trying to pick and I've got 18 already and we haven't even made it to the church yet.

My albums aren't ready yet. I had extra pages put into my parents' album...I think 30. My in-laws' will just have the 24 though. Yes, it is only one pic on a page....I think it's the smooth pages (not sure what it's called) when the photo is the actual page...not mounted on a page if that makes any sense lol

I didn't really give a lot of specific instructions. I just said what I wanted them to edit/retouch (i.e. the lingerie strap from my MOH's dress was sticking out by her armpit so they fixed that). I did not give any instruction on how to arrange the pics or anything. I LOVE my layout and cannot wait to pick them up. It's been 13 weeks so any day now! They told me 12.

Thank you! That's exactly what I was hoping for. I'm not really good with the whole creative thing unless I can play around with it in front of me like I did on shutterfly. Thank you!!

Re: Duet Albums? *Updated... w/ more questions!*

i picked out all the pics, filled out the forms with instructions and everything and they didn't go through.. it took me hours and i was soooo mad! i haven't tried to do it again yet.

i didn't do much except on the ones i wanted cropped i just wrote, 'please crop as you see fit for the layout of the page' so they would crop to fit the page if needed.

there were also a few where my dress blended in with the background during the ceremony so i asked them to darken the color of the background a little bit.

they can really do anything you need them to - my sil asked them to change the carpeted floor to hardwood in a pic and it looked like it really was hardwood!

we saw my bil/sil parent albums from them and even though they're only 24 pages they are still really nice. the pictures are the entire page and the pages are really thick and good quality. what i'm mad about is that we have to pay friggin 20 bucks just to have them put our names on the front of them

Whattt??? That's crazy about the wood floor! lol! I never would've even thought about that. Good to know about the form, I have everything written out anyway though.

I know what you mean about the extras- every single little thing is extra.

Re: Duet Albums? *Updated... w/ more questions!*

I ordered and left it to them. I didn't bother with the parent albums. I canceled them before we signed the contract and got a good discount. I ended up making my own on shutterfly and they came out amazing and saved myself alot of money.

It is taking forever though to get the album proofs. I ordered mine the beginning of March and got the 1st album proof over a week ago and asked them to revise 2 pages (just changing 2 pictures around) and i am still waiting on the revised version

Good luck

Re: Duet Albums? *Updated... w/ more questions!*

I just specified if I wanted the pics in B&W, color, or sepia . . . since I wasn't sure if they were referencing the pictures on the retouched disk or the other disk - some of the pics we chose for albums were from the un-retouched photos, so I specified how I wanted each to appear. Does that make sense? It took me hours.

Also, a note to check your contracts - I freaked because mine said that you have a year from your wedding date to submit your albums and after that it is up to their discretion to honor what is in the contract . . . not sure what that could mean, but I wasn't taking any chances.

Oh, they'll honor it or I will be the most annoying person in the world. But that's an excellent point, I should get on it. Thank you!
