Re: Electric Bill

Depends on the time of year. During the fall/winter it's around $200-250. During the summer it's upwards of around $500 because of the A/C.

Re: Electric Bill

LIPA does estimates... so every other month the bill is based on the electric use from the year before. Then the next month they read the meter and its based on your consumption for the two months. So if they estimate your using $70 worth of electric a month and you actually use $150 worth, then one month your bill will be $70 and the next it will be $230.

Since our house was virtually empty the year before we bought it, every other month our bills were high.

Re: Electric Bill

Ours averages about $150 every other month (we get billed about $300 every other month). It's more in the summer with the a/c on.

for the balanced billing LIPA wants $202 a month.

We have the balanced billing and I think it's right around $90 every month.

Would you recommend the balanced billing? I just don't want to end up paying an exorbitant amount at the end of the year.

personally we don't do it b/c we have the higher electric bill in the summer and higher oil in the winter, so they kinda even out the year on their own. well... not really since oil is much more, but the electric in the summer plus the landscaper together even out the oil bills. oil bills are the worst!

Re: Electric Bill

When we were in our 2 BR apartment it was generally $40/mo in the winter and 80/mo in the summer (we love our AC).

Since we've moved, we're noq in a 2BR townhouse and we were at $47 last month, but I think it was only 3/4 of the month, so my guess is we'll be around $60/mo.
