FIL and Father's Day

What do you do?

I was thinking of just getting him some nice Greek wine and other liquor(s), but is that boring?

My sister and I want to take my Dad on a boat cruise in the city, so is that going to look bad?

'Here FIL, have some alcohol. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to leave and take my Dad on a boat cruise around NYC.'

Re: FIL and Father's Day

It's your dad!!! DUHHH!! :)

It's your DH's responsibility to come up with something awesome for his father, not yours. Your name just gets put on it because you're married to their son now.

LOL true!
But DH won't do that, he and his brother aren't like my sis and me, he doesn't get 'creative' with gifts. They'll probably end up having a BBQ, which is fine.

I'm sure their father is used to stuff like that though and appreciates it.. so I wouldn't worry.

Just like I'm sure your dad knows that you'll do something special for him.

In my family, for example.. it's my and my brother.. and as much as I TRY to make things awesome.. my brother never participates, so I either end up doing something on my own.. or just getting my dad a gift and a card. But it's been like this for years, and my dad appreciates the fact that I do this for him. HOWEVER, DH and his sister go ALL OUT for their parents.. and although I would love to do the same for mine.. I just can't afford to do what they do together, by myself.

I hope i make sense in what I'm saying here lol

Re: FIL and Father's Day

Same thing happens with us Becca. I usually go all out for birthdays and Mother's Day and Father's Day and DH's family does small things and BBQs.

Mother's Day we did the brunch for my mom and my cousin's and gave her a canvas. For MIL we did a BBQ at SIL and BIL's house and got her a small mug with the animals on them.

For Father's Day, my dad wants a couple GTO things to match his 'baby' but for FIL we're getting him tickets to the Strawberry Field's Beatles tribute (we did this for my dad last year) and that's only because I suggested it and I think it's a combined father's day and his birthday gift.
