I just opened a bottle of red wine and only used 1/2 a cup of it for cooking. What is the best way to preserve the wine? Should I recork it or try to fill up an empty water bottle all the way to the top with it? Should I just drink the rest? TIA!

I vote for drinking the rest! The best way I have found to preserve wine is with the rabbit vaccuum wine stoppers. If you do not have these you can recork it but you should use it in a couple of days b/c it will oxidize. If you want to save it for cooking in the future you can freeze it. I like to use an ice cube tray.
