HONEYMOONING IN HAWAII...

Since I didn't get much of a response on the BHB , I figure I'd ask you guys who have gone on your Honeymoons.

Past brides - I need your help, Our Honeymoon is booked and we're visiting Oahu and Maui islands.

I'm trying to get an idea of what kinds of activities, attractions, dinning, etc. that we can do. Can you please tell me what you did/going do?

Any information/details would be greatly appreciated, thanks a bunch

Re: HONEYMOONING IN HAWAII...

Sorry sweetie- I didn't see your post on BHB--
I just got back from Hawaii yesterday!!
Though we only did a day trip to Oahu, we spent five WONDERFUL, FABULOUS, SUPERB days on Maui.

We went through an AMAZING broker to do all of our excursions-
Aloha Destinations
1-800-256-4280
Ask for TROY.
He was TERRIFIC... and not to mention hysterical! he got us everything at a discounted rate. He is actually located on Oahu and can help you and give you honest opinions on everything dealing with Maui and Oahu. He did not steer us wrong on ONE THING! We had an amazing time on every one our excursions. He also gave us terrific advice on travel and things as well. Oh and another reason why I loved him... He sent us a map of the island with all of the excursion destinations highlighted and even told us where we could park!!!! with DH as the driver and me as the navigator--- I can't tell you how much of a help that was!

On Maui We booked alot we did:
Trilogy- a day trip to Lanai island (16 mi off the cost of Maui) We went sailing on a 60 ft. catamaran to Lanai- THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP!!! it was AMAZING. They give you b-fast and lunch. We saw whales & dolphins while sailing there, hung out on the beach, took a tour of the island- it was terrific! Troy describes it perfect. Ask him about it.

Warren & Annabelles- a magic/comedy show. It was absolutely hysterical. My stomach hurt from laughing so hard. we had such a great time. They put the newlyweds up front and DH was part of the show!

Old Lahania Luau- show was great and the food wasn't bad either.

U'LaLania- it's a Circque du Soliel type show that tells the story of how Maui came to be through a type of dance interpretation. I loved it! But-- Alot of the audience didn't appreciate it though. It was VERY artsy.

Good Luck and let me know if you have any questions about Maui!
Cheryl

Re: HONEYMOONING IN HAWAII...

I cut and paste from my review on 'the official honeymoon thread' Here is what I wrote:

HI Gals!! WE just flew in today!!!

We left on Feb 9 and returned today.
Maui
We arrived in Maui and stayed 3 nights at the Hyatt regency. The Hyatt is such a beautiful resort!! It was so breath taking! In Maui, we got in late so the first night we walked around the resort and went swimming. WE still had fun! WE went to a Luau at the resort. I didn't care for the food but, the show was very entertaining! At the Luau, We met another honeymoon couple from Boston and we exchange phone numbers and will get together soon. We did a Catamaran boat ride with the snorkeling! We had so much fun!! We swam with the turtles. It's whale season now and we saw over a dozen whales with their babies. It was incredible!

I was very disappointed with one of our activities. The road to Hana! I hated it! It took up most of our day! And I all I got was car sick! My DH and I both felt that if we could leave one thing out it would of been the Road to Hana. The reason why I got car sick was because the roads are so swurvy and narrow while you are going up the mountains. The view was breath taking but, after an hour, I was sick to my stomach. If we could do our honeymoon again, we would of spent more time in Maui. The first day was a total wash because we got in late and not to mention the road to hanna.
We absolutely loved Maui!!

Oahu We stayed 2 nights in Oahu! NOt to sound negative, but, NOt too crazy about Oahu. It was too commercial and too many people!! It was like being in LA. Wakiki Beach was beautiful though!! Since we were staying there two nights, we decided to go a little less expensive with the hotel. WE stayed at the OHana East. It was a decent hotel with an incredible view. A block from the beach and it was right in the middle of Wakikki Beach area! But, Warning: We noticed a lot of hookers at Wakikki. At first we thought they were strippers, but nope they were high class hookers. It is so sad how the police there just turn the other cheek. They pretty much blended in with the tourist except they were wearing 5 inch heals. LOL
While in Oahu, we did the submarine tour, which was so awesome!! It went down to about 100 feet!! We also did a dinner cruise! So romantic and fun! WE had dinner and a show! The one thing we regret not doing was the Pearl Harbor trip. We failed to go not because we did not want to but because we missed it because we were late from another tour. I was more upset for DH since he is a history buff! If we had to do Hawaii over, we would of stayed in Oahu 1 night instead of 2.
Kaui
We stayed 4 nights and this was our favorite island. It was not as populated and the island was so breath taking!! WE stayed at the Hyatt and Oh my God the View is amazing!!! We had a partial view but, it was soo beautiful! We had more than a partial view of the ocean and the pool area. We arrived on Valentines day and believe it or not all of the restaurants were booked!!! Even the hotel's restaurants! So we decided to order room service and eat on our balcony! It was so romantic!! At both Hyatts, we had complimentary bottles of Champagne and Wine! Room service food was one of our best meals!!! As a matter of fact, we ordered room service again during the week. It was just so relaxing to order room service after a long day under the sun and activities and be able to just eat in your room in your jammies. While in Kaui, we did a helicopter ride! It was alot of fun and it was so beautiful up there. The pilot took us over dorment volcanos, coast, and water falls. He was very informative about the history of Kaui. We also did a kayak tour. Let me tell you, it kicked our butt!!! We now realize that we are out of shape! LOL But we had such a great time on this tour! It include lunch and swimming at a 125 foot water fall. We parked our Kayaks and did some hiking up a mountain to the water fall! ONe thing about the Kaui that you will find sorta bizzare but beautiful is that Kaui is filled with Roosters!! Yes, Roosters! But, they are so beautiful!! We couldn't stop laughing because they were everywhere. So when we did the hike up the mountain to the water fall, what did we see at the water fall, Roosters!! NOt only the roosters, But we also saw a Cat!!! You had to be their I guess. But, I took a picture of my DH eating his sandwich with the Cat staring at him and the rooster on a rock above my DH. I can't wait to see the Picture! Contrast. Let me tell you, that hike was not easy. WE went went back to resort with nice booties, calves and arms.
LOL Another day, We drove around the island and took a ride to what is also called 'The gRand canyon of the Pacific', the Waimea Canyon.

WE ended our honeymoon in San Francisco. WE stayed two nights at a HOliday INN at Fisherman's wharf area! The hotel and location were so ideal! It was my first visit to San Francisco and I liked it alot! NOt enough to move there, but I liked it!

We had such a great time during our honeymoon! We ate so much!!!! But, I am happy to say that I did not gain any weight!!! I will post picts when I get a chance!

Re: HONEYMOONING IN HAWAII...

When you arrive on the islands, look for the free booklets....the one that is really good is 101 things to do on....(they have them on every island) they also have a website www.101thingstodo.com

Have a wonderful time!!!!

OH, I almost forgot...learn from my bad experience...DO NOT put your film in your luggage...take it on the plane with you. The scanners they use there to scan your luggage are super strong and they ruined my undeveloped film. The pictures came out looking foggy when it was a beautiful sunny day....
