DH and I are going on a cruise with his entire family in December. We thought it'd be cute if, as a Chanukah gift, we got his parents & grandmother a shore excursion (we'd obviously go with them). So i did my research and found a full island tour for $25 per person which is perfect (we don't generally spend more than that).

Anyway, DH and I told his parents about it and they pretty much knocked it down saying they don't want to do that, but they'll let us know what excursions they DO want.

um ... yeah, no! Your excursions are $50 per person or more and that's just way too much! I guess you're getting some crappy gifts from the store

that's what you get for being difficult!

i guess they just didn't realize that the one i offered was cheaper .... but they're still annoying

DH's grandmother paid for the cruise for us ... but we already got her a thank you gift.

this was supposed to be their chanukah gift.

Why don't tell you see if you can just go a gift certificate for an excursion desk? Then they can just use it towards what they want on the cruise.

That is really rude though! In-laws you can't live with them...well yeah that's pretty much it.

That's a pretty good idea actually - i might do that!

we were hoping to go with them to whatever excursion it was (so part of the gift was spending time together) ... but whatever ... spending even less time with them won't make me too upset

Agreed. That's always something that I want to do, but feel guilty doing since there's so much free food everywhere.

Carnival Victory ... which i just found out does not even HAVE a specialty restaurant ..... thanks for the idea anyhow though
