****I SUCK QOTDS****
i told you i was gonna suck! i completely forgot to post over the weekend...so here are 2 questions:
1. i was out on saturday and this guy brought his service dog into the bar. the staff told him he couldn't have it in there, and then even after explaining it was a service dog they said no bc it wasn't a seeing eye dog! what do you think about service dogs in bars?
i thought it was so rude for the staff to tell the guy he couldn't have the dog in there -- it could potentially save his life! who cares if it's not a seeing eye dog? people have service dogs for other reasons! on the other hand, though, i could tell why the staff would think it wasn't necessary for him to have the dog in there - it was a saturday night, the guy was with a bunch of friends drinking like fish! he was clearly well enough to be out partying, and he was with a large group of people so one of them couldn't tell if something was wrong with him? i still would ever deny the right to have his service dog with him though...
2. what's your favorite thing to do on rainy days?
i hate having to go to work when it's raining!! i'd rather be in sweats, on the couch, watching a movie and eating soup

Re: ****I SUCK QOTDS****
I am pretty sure they are not legally allowed to do what they did, because if your training a service dog you can bring them anywhere to familiarize them with different surroundings. I have seen service dogs in training in malls, the Christmas Tree shop, restaurants, on planes... without a person they are helping. But I could be wrong. People get service dogs for all kinds of weird things now and I know that the schools said no to a boy having one in school for autism.
Personally I think we have to many rules against dogs as it is. In Europe you can bring a dog almost anywhere. if people would clean up their dogs poop and be personally responsible for anything that the dog does then it wouldn't be such an issue. But if a dog bites someone it becomes the bar's liability, which is ridiculous.
My friend is blind and had a service dog that was so well behaved. We went to a 5 star restaurant and a broadway show in Manhattan and he was at it all. He laid quietly and was so amazingly well behaved. But when we got back to my house and took the harness off he was a fun crazy dog.

Re: ****I SUCK QOTDS****
ummmm......I agree w/you the staff really shouldnt of dismissed his need for a service dog BUT if this guy has a condition, he really wouldn't be out drinking (I assume). I could be wrong about this but I believe if you use a service dog, you carry some sort of documentation w/you.I really dont have a prob w/service dog coming into bars, etc. These dogs are so well trained that barring a medical emergency of their master, you would never know the dog was there.
On rainy days I love to watch movies, read & bake.

Re: ****I SUCK QOTDS****
I am pretty sure that it was illegal for the bar to turn away the guy and his service dog. As for the guy being out with a group of friends that could watch him to make sure everything was ok...that's not really going to help the guy depending on his condition. Service dogs are trained to sense whatever special need their owners need. If that guy had epilepsy, the service dog is trained to sense when a seizure is coming on...the guys friends would have no idea that it was about to happen and would not have been able to help until after the fact. There are many other types of special needs for service dogs. I think it is ridiculous for someone to say..oh, you are not blind so you don't need a service dog. Just like the school that fought against the boy with autism. Obviously there is a reason that the boy has a service dog and it's not just because he is autistic.

Exactly... regardless of what he is doing the service dog is necessary for people with a handycap that requires one..
Movies and vegging out !!

Re: ****I SUCK QOTDS****
just wanted to add that they kinda let the dog stay.... the bar had one of those walls in the front that opens like windows so it's kinda like you're sitting outside, so they let the guy sit at that table with the dog on the other side of the fence thing
