investing....
so I have no idea bout investing/stocks. DH may know some of just what he reads, but he isn't too knowledgeable on the subject. He wants us to invest in Citigroup b/c the stocks are cheap right now and only doing better. I am very, very afraid. This is money that we want to save for a house. It would be tough to get this money back if we lost it.
Does anyone have any advice/ideas about this stock??? OR know of any other stocks that may be a good starting point? I have an IRA which has some stocks, but nothing too crazy, I still don't fully understand it though.

Re: investing....
I also really limited in this area but what I have heard is that stock is better as a long-term investment. I dont know that I would invest money that I have earmarked for a house- but thats just my philosophy- hopefully someone on here will have good advice

Re: investing....
I think you should maybe take a clas n investing, before I started I took a class at LAGuardia COmmunity College just so I had an idea of what I was getting into. they offer courses. I think the course was over 4 weeks meeting once a week.Citigroup is a tough one, yes it's cheap but the U.S. gov't now owns a substantial amount of that company. I'm not saying that it'll never grow but it may be a risky one. JMO.
Definitely take a class and try to talk to someone who's more knowledgeable about investing. If you know what is good to invest in right now is a great time to invest becasue everything is cheap.

I agree...maybe take a class on it or see a financial advisor.
My dad works for Citigroup! He has been hurting with his stocks because he gets money taken out of each paycheck and put into stocks. He said his stocks have gone way down. I think he lost thousands of dollars. I will def ask him what he thinks about getting shares in Citi stocks right now if you'd like. I mean my dad is really good with stocks and knows where to invest money, how much etc. he will def give an honest answer about investing, especially in citigroup.

I do need to speak with someone about my IRA that's for sure. I don't want to be a huge 'stock' investing kind of person lol But DH suggested this b/c it was cheap and looked profitable long term. I just want to know if it's too good to be true, or if it's really a steal. IF you could just let me know what your father thinks I would appreciate it. :) TY

sure no problem. I might have to get back to you later though because I called him before and his secretary said he was in and out of meetings today- unfortunately he has to lay off more people
in the near future.
