Jersey Shore, Atlantic City, Newport, Block Island

I am randomly taking a week off in a few weeks (9/18-25), but we have nowhere to go.

We are trying to buy this house in Babylon, so don't want to go on the cheap, but somewhere nice.

We have never been to Jersey Shore, and only a couple of times to AC. Can you recommend somewhere nice to stay at these places? I have been to Borgata, but don't want to stay there b/c we want to stay right on the beach. We figure if we do AC, we have options if it rains or is cold. And we know nothing about Jersey Shore.

We are hoping for good weather, it's usually still nice then.

Same deal with Newport and Block Island - can you recommend specific names of hotels?

I love the Jersey shore and Block Island but that late in the season it gets super quiet there. I have been to Block in May and none of the stores were open and the grocery store had bare shelves. I used to spend my summers down on LBI (just north of AC) and once Labor Day passes it gets quiet and its more jsut locals.

I'm not much of an AC person so we go onto Cape May. IN Cape May we stay at the John F Criag or Leith Hall. On Block Island my favorite places to stay are the Atlantic Inn, Blue Dory Inn and Rose Farm Inn (if it's not closed for the off-season).

Re: Jersey Shore, Atlantic City, Newport, Block Island

We go to the NJ Shore all the time but stay in a house. I don't really know what to tell you regarding hotels because any in Seaside I wouldn't stay in. For that matter I had bad experience at the motels in Point Pleasant too. However I think there are some B&Bs and hotels in Point Pleasant that are nice. Point Pleasant is nice because its got all the fun of the Seaside Boardwalk but its cleaner and more family oriented. For a romantic getaway I would recommend Cape May but can't tell you where to go.

I love Block Island... but again I only have ever stayed on the boat. But I know the National Hotel is supposed to be amazing.

Newport I have more experience with. It's one of my favorite places to go.
The Marriott is beautiful but a bit expensive, same with the newport harbor hotel and marina. If you want romantic Castle Inn and Oceancliff are beautiful. We really loved Oceancliff, but were were there for a wedding. Both are a drive from downtown. I stayed at the Millstreet Inn with my girlfriends in a Townhouse Suite and liked it a lot.
