Jury Duty question!!!

DH had a summons for stand by Jury Duty for today.

1) He never filled out the form on the back of the summons

2) He never called them to see if they needed him for jury duty today

I asked him about it and he said he couldn't care less. What an idiot.

Does anyone know what happens now?

TIA!

Re: Jury Duty question!!!

He should probably call this morning to see if he has to go in so they don't issue a warrant for his arrest...

Re: Jury Duty question!!!

DH is in an meeting now but he's an attny and worked in the DA's office for years so he will definitely know the specifics and also what your DH can do to resolve the situation. Will follow up!

Re: Jury Duty question!!!

If he didn't fill out the form on the summons, how does he have a number to call for today? It CAN get to the point where they put out a warrant but I believe it's only after not responding/showing twice. Technically speaking, he could argue that he never received the summons since he didn't fill it out and send it back. But that only works for so long.

Re: Jury Duty question!!!

I dodged those summons for years. One day I thought maybe it was time to show. It actually worked out well for me b/c my sister and BIL also got one. We all called to request the same day so we could all go at the same time. I have to go to the Bronx County Court and there was no way I was going there alone. I got called to the same case as my BIL but we made sure they didn't know we were together. We both managed to get off the case. And my sister got off hers. So if you can pull some thing like this off I say go for it!
