ladies with cats

are you afraid of how they're going to react when you have babies??

i was just thinking about this the other night... our cats are soooo sweet and loving to us but one of them absolutely hates other people! he hisses, scratches and bites when they even look at him! i have no idea how he would react to a crying baby but i could never give him away. thank god i have like 6 years before we even think about having kids

Re: ladies with cats

Ive thought about it... and honestly, my cats are good! The older cat would totally leave the baby alone, shes a mellow mush... and the younger one who is 2 still likes to play, and is inquisitive, but he too is starting to become mushy... He'll def want to see whats going on but he would never scratch, hiss, etc.... We are blessed with awesome cats

Re: ladies with cats

i don't know about cats, but i am terrified about how my dog will react come february. he is so sweet but barking is his #1 hobby and we have been training him not to jump on people for the past year (he's gotten much better with DH realized consistency is key and I can't train him myself). Only time will tell how your pets will react...which is scary!

Re: ladies with cats

I worry about my dogs. I love big dogs, I'm not a little dog kinda person. I have a Collie mix and a Pit Bull mix. Both are massive and I play very physically with them- I mean rolling around on the floor kinda playing. DH does the same. So I really worry that they won't realize there are FAR different boundaries for a baby. I don't think they'd ever intentionally hurt a baby, but they might accidentally because they don't realize their own strength. I know I need to start training them not to be so rough, but I love playing with them like that and they LOVE it.

Re: ladies with cats

I have a cat I don't think there will be a problem. She only goes near me and DH. Also, she is so jumpy that a baby crying will probably scare her.
