Lent Friendly Recipies

Hi Ladies,

I need your help. DH and I are having friends over for dinner on Friday. Since both of us are Jewish, the thought of lent never crossed our minds when planning. Im glad my friend told me as that would have been an epic fail, but now whatsoever I make for them?

Anyone have any yummy, lent friendly ideas/ Recipies?

Re: Lent Friendly Recipies

depends on what kind of food you're looking for

we either do pasta with vegetables (like a pasta primavera) or a shrimp/salmon dish on fridays during lent

im italian so most of my cooking involves pasta, but you could totally do salmon steaks or fried shrimp for everyone, etc.

or you could do tofu if you know they eat tofu

we had friends over last friday and we ordered chinese - we just ordered a couple of shrimp dishes and a veggie dish and a tofu dish

You can also try eggplant parmesan and spaghetti. I always love that!

Anything fish would be good! Or you could do homemade pizza which is one my favorite meals ever!

I made meat free baked ziti on Ash Wednesday and FH loved it - just ziti, marinara sauce, ricotta and mozzarella. I served it with salad and garlic bread.

Re: Lent Friendly Recipies

Thanks ladies! I knew fish was ok but DH hates the smell. I think I'll stick to Italian (style) as I make my best attempts.
