Looking to move to West Hempstead

Hi girls. Currently DH and I live in Staten Island and we are very much considering moving to Long Island. We don't want to move far out at all because we both work in Brooklyn. I've seen some nice houses online in West Hempstead. I'm not too familiar with West Hempstead, can anyone tell me about it/recommend it?

Re: Looking to move to West Hempstead

My mom lives in West Hempstead, there are good areas and bad areas. She is on the Franklin Square border line which is a very good area. Look into the school districts, that will help figure out if it's good or bad.

this! If you want to move to West Hempstead it is better to be closer to Franklin Square or Garden City than to Hempstead.

Re: Looking to move to West Hempstead

I live in West Hempstead about 4 blocks to the West Hempstead train by Woodfield ave and yes, Hempstead is the next neighborhood and i have had 0 problems. And believe me, my husband has two cars (corvette and camaro) that he keeps parked and nothing happened. Just cause you are closer to Hempstead means nothing. I lived in Garden City Park before this and the house next to us got robbed. So i think its a big misconception. So i would take it from someone who actaully lives in the neighborhood.

The neighborhood by me is very jewish and quiet. You have some stores nearby as well and lots of big houses
